It shares land and maritime borders with [[Riyelum]], [[MápabaL]], [[Enkavak]]'s Gulf territory, the [[Vansterèl|District of Vansterèl]], and [[Sofao Tâsi]]; its ownership of the [[Blighted Shrine]] gives further maritime borders with [[Pua]], [[Tauranga Puawai]], [[Regnate Latium]], and the [[Condominium of Chaos]]. The territory of the City of Kozdenen is comprised of two islands: the island of Kozdenen, comprising most of the City's land area, and the smaller island of Savdenen. Mainland provinces include Estrogen, Taukhoree, Chielbary (including Greater Vipolis), and Monke. It is one of the oldest member states of the [[United Ŋations]] and a founding member of the [[Gulf Union]].

The first settlement in what is now Kozdenen was a small camp on the east coast of Savdenen, established by Pleb on 18 January 2024. By 2 February, an agrarian economy was established on the island. The Republic of Kozdenen was proclaimed on 5 February 2024, joining the post-[[The Raid|Raid]] world order.

Kozdenen is currently embroiled in a conflict between a new monarchical regime - the Supreme Duchy - and continuing Republican government-in-exile based in Kiryac Yikow, following [[User:Total pleb|Peleṽa Thoa-Saevakki]]'s removal from power and a subsequent Saevakkite coup d'état. The Supreme Duchy currently controls the City of Kozdenen, whereas the outer provinces are currently Republic-aligned.

On 7 May 2024, Peleṽa claimed an ocean monument in the [[Amujan Sea]] as the [[Blighted Shrine]] protectorate for the purpose of converting it into a Guardian farm and potentially transferring it to UŊ administration at a later date. While Peleṽa was assisting in the construction of a railway line between the [[City State of Amuj]] proper and its colony of [[Mawg (Amuj)|Mawg]] (later part of the Aquatic line), it had been discovered that the planned route ran directly underneath an Ocean Monument - within the [[Amujan Sea]] - when its resident Elder Guardians induced mining fatigue on the Doge at a rate which drinking milk could not sufficiently catch up with. In retalliation, Thoa-Saevakki stormed the monument and slew its Elder Guardians before claiming the monument.

==Geography==
The bulk of Kozdenen proper is comprised of Forest biomes, and was historically host to hilly terrain. However, the island has been converted into a flat Plains-like landscape as a result of extensive deforestation and other terraforming activities to clear space for continued urbanisation. A small stretch spanning the southeastern coastal region is Taiga.

==Politics==
Kozdenen is a constitutional republic, with the Supreme Law as the basic governing document. Uniquely, the Supreme Law contains not only constitutional articles, but also the entire corpus of Koz law, including local ordinances relating to particular wards and territories. Though its political system contains limited democratic elements, the country itself is not a democracy, with popular representation remaining indirect, subject to the whims of the existing political class. Central to Kozdenen's political system are the Doge (head of state and government) and Grand Boule (chief legislative body). The permanent seat of government is the Palace of the Grand boule, in Savdenen ward.

===Grand Boule===
The Grand Boule of Kozdenen is the country's supreme legislative body, and is bicameral in nature, comprised of the Common Council (lower house) and Signory (upper house). The Grand Boule has the power to draft and approve the country's legislation, although in practice legislative initiative is left as the Presidium's prerogative under normal circumstances. Upon approval from both houses of the Grand Boule, legislation officially has the force of law.

The Common Council is a democratic body comprised of 36 members elected for a six-month term, 27 of which are directly elected in a singular at-large national consistency, with the remaining 9 being appointed by the winning party. Upon the opening of a vacancy prior to a regular election, the departing candidates party substitutes another candidate from their party list from the previous election. The Common Council is chaired by the Speaker of the Common Council, who is selected by and from the membership at the start of each parliamentary session.

The membership of the Signory is comprised of 26 elected representatives, two from each of the country's officially recognised labour collectives. Membership of the Signory is for life, with a position becoming vacant upon death or retirement. Upon the opening of a vacancy, members of the labour collective concerned nominate a slate of three candidates per vacancy (usually only one) to be considered by the remainder of the Signory's membership, who make the final decision on which candidate(s) to admit into their ranks. The Signory is chaired by the Doge of Kozdenen, and is considered to be in perpetual session.

===Executive and judiciary===
The chief executive body is the Presidium of the Republic of Kozdenen, also known as the Hand of the Doge. This body is comprised of 5 members, appointed and headed by - and including - the Doge. Members are selected from the Signory, and are responsible for various aspects of the country's governance. Though this is not stated in law, it is typical for the Presidium to wield legislative initiative, drafting legislation for the remainder of the Grand Boule to approve. The Presidium serves not only as the country's primary executive body, but as its chief judiciary body, serving as a council of magistrates in court cases.

The position of Doge is filled through an internal election among the Signory, who also reserve the right to file motions of no confidence against either the Doge or other members of the Presidium with a straight majority. The Doge serves as chair of both the Signory in general and the Presidium in particular.

[[Kozdenen]] regularly holds elections for the lower house of the Grand Boule, its supreme legislative authority, every 6 months. There are only irregular elections for positions in the Signory - the upper house - and none for any executive positions, which are selected by and from the membership of the Signory. Snap elections are permitted under "exceptional circumstances"; this does not affect the standard electoral calendar.

Common Council elections made use of the Borda count voting system, a ranked choice system wherein scores are assigned to candidates based on the number of first-choice votes, second-choice votes, etc. they receive. Voters ranked up to three preferred parties, not individual candidates; Koz elections make use of a closed party-list system. Once the Borda count scores for each party are tallied up, these scores are then inputted into the largest-remainder method as substitutes for votes. Until 2026, 27 seats were then apportioned based on each party's Borda score, with the final 9 being awarded to the most successful party as bonus seats. The election was ultimately held on July 8 following a one-week campaign period.

This election was the first to take place after the passing of the Terrafirma bill, which not only reformed the administrative structure of Kozdenen but also its electoral system. Since the last election, the Lavender Party was dissolved and merged into the Green Party, while four new parties were established: the Evil Party, Tomo, Party for the Rights of Clans, and the League of Free Gulf Peoples.

Party for the Republic, the party backed by Saevakki, won 59% of first-choice votes, once again winning the vast majority of seats due to this, including the 9 bonus seats reserved as the Savdenen constituency. Party for the Republic attained the majority of first-choice votes in every constituency except Sorodenen - where they nonetheless received the highest Borda count score - and Taukhoree, which instead saw the League of Free Gulf Peoples as the largest party.

[[Kozdenen]] regularly holds elections for the lower house of the Grand Boule, its supreme legislative authority. There are only irregular elections for positions in the Signory - the upper house - and none for any executive positions, which are selected by and from the membership of the Signory.

=== Electoral system ===
As in all other types of elections prior, Common Council elections make use of the Borda count voting system, a ranked choice system wherein scores are assigned to candidates based on the number of first-choice votes, second-choice votes, etc. they receive. However, for Common Council elections this is combined with a more typical method of proportional representation, specifically a largest-remainder method using the Hare quota.

Voters rank up to three preferred parties, not individual candidates; Koz elections make use of a closed party-list system. Once the Borda count scores for each party are tallied up, these scores are then inputted into the largest-remainder method as substitutes for votes. Until 2026, 27 seats were then apportioned based on each party's Borda score, with the final 9 being awarded to the most successful party as bonus seats. From the January 2026 election onwards, the size of the Common Council was doubled from 36 members to 72, and the country was split into constituencies corresponding to the provinces and the wards of the City of Kozdenen. Each constituency is apportioned an equal amount of seats, with the remainder being assigned to Savdenen, which functions as a host for bonus seats. There is a 10% electoral threshold in place, i.e. parties must attain at least 10% of the total Borda count score in a given constituency to gain representation on the Common Council.

Doge [[User:Total pleb|Peleṽa Thoa-Saevakki]] announced the creation of a democratically elected lower house for the Grand Boule on June 16 in response to public pressure, with the existing body to become an upper house known as the Signory. This plan was approved by the Grand Boule on June 27, with the elections themselves to be held at a later date following a grace period for now-legalised political parties to be registered. The election was ultimately held on July 8 following a one-week campaign period.

10 parties were registered in preparation for the July 2025 election.
