They proposed it be divided in half because one half looked like a caterpillar, which made it easily visually distinguishable if a division were to be officialized, and also cute. They originally proposed the name Caterpillaria, but it was changed to Tardigradia due to its equal resemblance to a [[w:Tardigrade|tardigrade]] and a majority support for the latter<ref>https://discord.com/channels/697450809390268467/767569743229747220/1331752620347625584</ref>.
