The Mainland nether hub led to other locations on its continent that old players frequented. In the later days of Season 1, the nether hub became exclusively used to access the stronghold. The nether hub later had 4 paths added to it leading to different places, 2 straight ice bridges (as part of the [[Great Ice Bridge|Nether Great Ice Bridge]]), 1 diagonal ice bridge, and one obscured travel path passing through the crimson fungus.

For a major time period of Season 1, the End was closed, so the stronghold nether portal was closed off with protected iron bars. However, the corresponding overworld portal was not closed off. Not knowing this, [[Janus]] entered the overworld portal but became portal trapped upon appearing in the nether portal. They were unable to talk in the chat for a long time as well, but they were eventually freed when [[Suqi]] gave them a chorus fruit to teleport away.
