			Pihi retains what Supreme Leader Ngata calls a "Controlled Militarized Border" with checkpoints, armed guards, and orders to use any means necessary to prevent unauthorized crossings. While many believe this to be harsh, the border remains relatively easy to get into, so long as one is crossing for either travel through the country, or tourism and provided one has all paperwork ready. It is important to note that diplomats from other nations seem to have special treatment at the borders while still being subject to all rules and regulations, the most notable privilege simply being able to skip the line.

			During the expansion near Coldba, Pihi, still under socialist rule, had sent Socialist Commisary to the new land, which held a previously democratic population. The move had angered the native population and had sparked a rise in democratic ideals in mainland Pihi, eventually escalating into civil war. The democratic Forces had put up a significant fight, making Pua respond with Propaganda in hopes of reinforcing the Socialist population, claiming that the Democratic Party was "failing the common Pihitian". This propaganda did work, however not in the way originally intended, as it only sparked a fierce rise in Nationalist ideals. The war hit its peak as Nationalist radicals had eventually found, and assassinated, Troutlord Snail, after reports that the leader was preparing to surrender land to Pua for support against the Democratic forces. Following this, the Nationalists had appointed Supreme Leader Ngata as the new head of the nation. The war had finally met its conclusion once the new Supreme Leader had made a vow to purge the remaining Democratic forces, as well as offering the remaining Socialist supporters a choice to either "Convert, leave, or die" marking the beginning if Pihitian Sovereignty.
