The Kathyrian-Aŋtarchtaemenid War is a degree 3 divergence from the prime timeline. It is a divergence from the degree 2 divergence Dispute over Hadyr. In timeline 1+j, this dispute was resolved peacefully by turning the village of Hadyr into a condominium between Kathyria and the Aŋtarchtaemenid Empire. The Aŋtachtaemenid Empire is itself a divergence from T’ in that it was established in a timeline 1+i event known as the Establishment of the Aŋtarchtaemenid Empire. Of course, in the prime timeline, there is not, and has never been, an Aŋtarchtaemenid Empire.
Backstory
Kathyrian and Aŋtarchtaemenid claims over the village of Hadyr overlapped from the establishment of the Aŋtarchtaemenid Empire. In this divergent scenario, this conflict could not be resolved peacefully. The Aŋtarchtaemenid Empire declared war on Kathyria for the village on 2024 November 16. This date was tactically chosen as November 16th is a Kathyrian holiday.[1] The Supreme Emperor of the Aŋtarchtaemenid Empire researched Kathyrian culture to give their ŋation a massive advantage.
Key battles
The Battle of Hadyr
Of course, the first notable battle occurred in the piece of land under dispute. As Kathyria's Cenrail® line runs very close to the village, the ŋation was able to rapidly advance to the village to defend it. Unfortunately for the Kathyrians, the Aŋtarchtaemenids were well-versed in crystal PVP, so Kathyria stood no chance of winning. The loss in this battle was an early morale loss for Kathyria.
The Seiges of Hanebrug and Mekathyr
Shortly after seizing control of Hadyr, the Aŋtarchtaemenids took advantage of Kathyria's infrastructure to rapidly invade both Hanebrug and Mekathyr. Kathyria, humiliated by their defeat in Hadyr but not wanting to admit defeat just yet, reached out to other ŋations for help. Many ŋations expressed sympathy, but did not send aid. Vilantnen pledged to aid Kathyria for 50,000 Drachma,[2] which Kathyria could not afford to pay and thus did not receive aid. The Evil Scamming Country said it would aid Kathyria in its conflict, but it never did.[3] Eistówú chose to send aid to the Aŋtarchtaemenid Empire due to ideological similarities, despite the victor already being clear at this point.
Aftermath
Needless to say, the Aŋtarchtaemenid Empire came out victorious. In the peace treaty, Kathyria agreed to cede the village of Hadyr in exchange for an armistice between the two ŋations for the forseeable future. The Aŋtarchtaemenid Empire agreed to these terms, as its Supreme Emperor only wanted the village. After signing the treaty, both the Queen and the Supreme Emperor[4] wondered why this couldn't have been settled peacefully.
Footnotes
- ↑ in absolute Kathyria, November 16th was the date of Kathyrian independence from the Byzantine Empire; one of Kathyria's three independence dates
- ↑ this would have been equivalent to 150,000 diamonds, which is probably more than exist in the entire Ŋorld
- ↑ as evil scammers do
- ↑ despite the fact the war was their doing
