Aomoic (language family)

Aomoic was a theoretical language family that consisted of the two primary dialects of Aomoī, Kaipanese, and Lukan, posited by Aomoic scholars from the former Aomoī-Kaervaenan Commonwealth. It has largely been supplanted by more modern linguistic theories, which place the languages in separate families.

Aomoic Theory

The Aomoic langauge family consisted of the two primary dialects of Aomoī, Ī’Makoan and Ā’kanaroan. Kaipaī is the name of the Kaipanese language in Aomoī, and was theorized to be closely related to the dialects of Aomoī, all three descending from the same Old Aomoic language. The Lukan language was theorized to have diverged much earlier, splitting off from Proto-Aomoic.

Rationale In Favor of Aomoic

All three languages were from the same region of the Ŋorld, all originating in the southwest in either Archipelagia or ʡeteria. Each language, at some stage, had very few consonants with primarily open syllables, likely deriving from the theoretical Proto-Aomoic. Kaipanese in particular bore many similarities to Aomoī, with very few differences in phonology.

Rationale Against Aomoic

Kaipanese has a far different grammatical structure from Aomoī, as well as numerous phonemes that do not have equivalents in Aomoī.^{[citation needed]} This, alongside the far greater distance between Kaipa and the AKC compared to Kaipa and Lukaland, means that modern Kaipanese scholars do not recognize the Aomoic language family, similar to how Altaic is widely disputed in the Fakeworld.

Modern Theories

In current times, Aomoī is not associated with Kaipanese or Lukan. Kaipanese has been placed into its own language family, the Okamic languages, and Lukan has been theorized to be a Humoric language. Other theories include Kaipanese and Lukan to be closely related, with Aomoī as a separate language, and Aomoī and Lukan to be closely related, with Kaipanese remaining an Okamic language.^{[citation needed]}
