Elections in Araçana

The Principality of Araçana and Ŋasegak is a semi-constitutional democracy, and holds regularly scheduled nation-wide elections to determine the makeup of the Pola Oçhuse, its legislative assembly. The Mayor of Araçana, the country’s head of government, is elected by the members of the Pola Oçhuse (Traditionally from within their own ranks).

Aga Oçhuse, the voting members of the legislature, are elected per division of the country via a system where a number of candidates with the most, second most, third most, etc., amount of votes from a division are admitted, with the number of candidates elected differing between the different divisions.

Background

The February 2026 elections were the first to include 23 Aga Oçhuse, an increase from the previous government’s 21. One Aga Oçhuse was removed from Ñanga Ǵerhun, while two were added to Çana City, and one wasw added to Irgüya.

The elections occurred in a volatile period domestically and internationally, with events fresh on voter’s minds including World War 2, which Araçana was nominally involved in but did not fight in, and the temporary occupation of Araçana by the Kavakkorae, which ended following the miraculous reäppearance of Outlaw Sly. Sly, who served five previous terms as the Mayor and as the only independent Aga Oçhuse, did not pursue reëlection, despite her popularity.

Results

The coöperation between Advance Araçana and the Social Democrats that defined the previous government collapsed, as the Social Democrats shifted farther to the Left and away from coöperation with the Doge, and Advance Araçana lost nearly all of their seats among corruption scandals and general dissatisfaction with the status quo. A new political party, the Restoration Party, won two seats in its first election, with suburban support from Ñanga Ǵerhun province.

Similarly to the previous government, the new Pola Oçhuse has no majority party, but the votes of the members of the Illumination party, the Communist party,and the Frog party went to the Mayoral candidate of the Social Democrats, Kzemet ir-Embri of Çana City, in the Mayoral vote, which took place entirely along party lines. Notably, Baç i-Çehe of Irgüya, the National Society Party’s candidate, was supported by both remaining members of Advance Araçana, who voted against National Society on almost every matter in the previous government.
