Shingtsun /ˈʃɪŋ.tsʊn/ (Kyawcenni: Šingcun [ˈʃiŋ.tsʏn]), also spelled as Šingcun or Shingcun, formerly known as Riverland, is the northernmost and most populous republic of the Kingdom of Kyaw Cen. It consists of the southern part of the Yijan Savanna, Pereganesia, the Kôpang Archipellago, South Transtsaia and their surrounding areas. Its biggest city, as well as its administrative and economic center, is Yija.
Name
The name Shingtsun derives from the Kyawcenni word šingcun meaning Riverland, which has also been the former English name of the region. This name comes from the many rivers that Kyawcenni settlers have found in the region, compared to their homeland of the Isles of Silly and Marcyland, with both regions being riverless.
Shingtsun was officially known as the Šingcun Autonomous Region until 09 April 2024, when it was renamed to just Šingcun Region. On 18 May, the Kyawcenni Government has reformed the English transcription of Kyawcenni names, making the official name Shingtsun Region until 22 May 2024, when it was renamed to Republic of Shingtsun.
Administrative Divisions
Shingtsun is administratively divided into seven municipalities and unorganized territories:
