The Great Chest Eating is a term referring to a glitch that occurred on December 19, 2024, where anyone who was online before that evening ŊST would have the contents of all chests they loaded erased.
Effects of the event
The bug was first noted at 14:04 ŊST on December 19, 2024[1]. All chests loaded by spook_bag and anyone else who was online at the time would become empty.
At 14:06 ŊST, Fīl noticed that no other chests, including ender chests, were affected by the bug.
According to God, the event was caused by someone in the code of Nguhcraft overriding an existing function using Java mixins.[2] The end result was that all loaded chests could not access their stored inventory, and instead had their inventory overwritten with nothing. God fixed the bug at 14:30 ŊST the same day.
According to a census taken on December 19, 2024, there were only two server members online during this duration, Fīl and spook_bag. Therefore, the glitch fortunately did not affect a large part of Nguhcraft.
However, following the Great Chest Eating, a certain blue mouse was spotted near the Port of Eras, TTPD Era. This is likely unrelated to the Great Chest Eating, but such a relationship cannot be ruled out given the mouse's glitchy nature.
