Amogus

The Amogus (A-mô-gu-xơ), plural Amoguses and not Amogi, is a species of humanoids native to Adnar.

Biology

Amoguses are capsule-shaped, bipedal creatures with short legs, with a large vertical bone “spine” spanning the length of their body. An Amogus on average weighs 65–110 kg and has a height of 1–1.5 m. The skin of Amoguses is made of a uniform leather-like material. The most common skin color among all Amoguses is red and cyan, though Amoguses living near copper deposits tend to have copper crystalizations on their skin. Amoguses have no arms; their two hands are spherical and can levitate in a short distance away from their body. Amoguses have a single “visor”, a photosensitive organ spanning the front of their head. All Amoguses have blue blood, with blue blood cells containing hemocyanin.

Reproduction

All Amoguses can perform binary fission (asexual reproduction) at any point in time, dividing themselves into two Amoguses half the size with one fully inheriting the traits (skin color, sex, personality, etc.) of the parent and one having the exact opposite traits as their parent (the “offspring”).

Amoguses have two biological sexes, or more accurately, mating classes, because the sexes do not have any other effects except deciding which Amogus one can mate with. A really small number of intersex Amoguses exist. Most of them are infertile, and as a consequence, they cannot end their lives meaningfully and can only be killed.

Amoguses of extremely old age can perform sexual reproduction with another similarly-mature and opposite-sex Amogus. Both Amoguses fusing into one, ending their individual lives, and splits into multiple infantile Amoguses, usually 4 to 8, with randomized traits. The record number of Amoguses birthed by one instance of sexual reproduction is 28, though 23 of them did not make it through the first year.

Diet

Amoguses eat by absorbing nutrients through their skins. The diet of an Amogus includes most organic materials except other Amoguses, though there is a wide preference for white rice, fở and MSG-seasoned food. Generally, the older an Amogus, the less food they have to eat.

Food is a condition for aging, and without nutrients, an Amogus will not die but simply will not age. Water, however, is essential. Without water, Amoguses dessicate, shrivel up and eventually die of dehydration. Big Amogus is apparently the only exception to this, as He literally eats nothing, drinks nothing and is still alive.

Culture

Venting

Venting (chui cốŋ) is a cultural tradition of the Amoguses, where the Amogus place their body inside an opening in the wall / floor / ceiling and emerges from somewhere else. There are vents scattered around Adnar to allow Amoguses to travel quickly.

A special variety of venting is practiced in festivals, where Amoguses attempt to fit through the smallest vent possible. The Adnar venting record is an Amogus who fitted themselves into a circular vent with a circumference of 50 cm.

Despite being made out of solid copper and cannot contort His body, Big Amogus is still able to vent through smaller sufficiently-sized vents using quantum mechanics.

Use of Profanity

Amoguses are notorious for using profanities, a habit probably learnt from Big Amogus. Generally, the closer an Amogus is to the other party, the more profanities they will use in casual speech. Bilingual Amoguses are commonly seen swearing in other languages mid-speech.

Drinking

The favorite alcoholic beverage of Amoguses is beer (bia). Amoguses are often seen sitting in large groups of up to 40, eating dinner, downing a massive amount of beer, singing bad karaoke, and smells fermented as f███.

Unlike younger Amoguses, Amoguses of older generations has a preference for medicinal wine (rụ thuốk) drunk from shot glasses. The most esteemed of Adnaran medicinal wine is Minh Mạng wine (rụ Miñ Mạŋ), a liquor made from soaking a long list of herbs, beans, and dessicated invertebrates.
