Etymology
'Arbor 'Iland is a name with a somewhat controversial history. Explorers had assumed it a name given by contact with older speakers of English, altered to be pronounced by the 'Arborese. The name was assumed to be a mispronunciation of Arbor Ile, short for Arbor Island, on account of the fact that it's a small island with tall trees and treehouses; others thought it was actually a modified Arborial, hence its nickname. Others still argued that it was actually Harbor Island, and a few even argued that it was really a weird contraction of Harbor Highland, in reference to its rather large volcano. In reality, this was just an uncanny coincidence, and the name had no English influence whatsoever, as the local name Aagbogeile simply means "the village" or "the community".
