Owehaïá Island (Rokadong: O'ehaïáteláh [owɛ.aji.aːtelaːʔ]) is a small island in Rauratoshan. It is part of the Remulapola metropolitan area, and is found near Irikang Parkway, the main road leading between Remulapola proper and Dip(a)lomacy Corner.
Etymology
Owehaïá Island is named after the language of O'eaiā, which won Agma Schwa's 2024 Cursed Conlang Circus. Aristoska Stand is named after the fictional country of Arstotzka from the game Papers, Please. It could also be construed as the Rokadong phrase aritoska, literally meaning "fire world" or "fire planet", in reference to the planet Mars.
Phonetic issues
Both locations' source names do not comply with Rokadong phonetics, and so have been altered to fit them. For the island, "O'eaiā" does not work because Rokadong phonology mandates an onset between vowels in the same morpheme, even if none is written. This means an epenthetic glide is added unless the preceding vowel is one of i u or the intervening h became silent. The telajang transliteration of the name shows all four methods by which this can be exploited, but only half of the syllables actually end up having no onset. For the stand, three consonants in sequence is not permitted, so the sequences rst and tzk had to be either broken up or simplified. The sequences zk and tk are not permitted. The intervening vowel in Aristoska is i rather than the expected a as a reference to an ABC News article about the game, which misspelled Arstotzka as "Aristotzka".
Structures
Being one of Rauratoshan's three micro-islands, Owehaïá Island only has one structure: the Aristoska Stand, where the royal family of Rauratoshan can make announcements toward Irikangnaho Park. Otherwise, Aristoska Stand serves as a venue for concerts and the like, with a jukebox for playing music and dispensers for firing firework rockets.
A pair of allay twins, Arifa and Nilafa, work at Aristoska Stand, though their address is on Naho Island. They use their sound-based magic to help magnify the voice of someone speaking on the stand, like a natural speaker system.
