New Jorvik (Old Norse: Nýtt Jórvik) is an island-based Ŋation in the LoCATE area. It comprises the territory formerly administered by both New Rome and Newkent. According to legend, the country was founded by Queen Audrey ("The Bloodthirsty") in the year 2025 when she was teleported from a battlefront in a land she calls "England", having made several mentions to "the Danelaw". The Ŋation speaks both the common tongue, English, as well as an (apparently) related language called Old Norse. Further, they speak a language called "Jórvisk" which seems to be a divergent relative of Old Norse with substantial influence from both English and the recently adopted Jutish.

Jórvisk Language
Jórvisk is a language belonging to the Saxo-Syzkynic Languages, also known as the Germanic languages, specifically on the branch dubbed by linguists the "Newyorvish" branch. Exact origin is unknown but it is heavily theorised to be a direct descendant of the Old Norse language of which it is co-official with Jórvisk itself and English in New Jorvik. Like most Germanic languages, Jorvisk's vowel inventory is heavy with vowels, though has some bizarre features separating it from English, such as the presence of the [r] phoneme as opposed to the [ɹ] found in English. While documentation is currently sparse due to the recent discovery of this language, linguists in and around New Jorvik are working their best to produce documentation.
