The Madlands, named after the badlands, is the name given to a group of islands previously part of the former Realm of Madness. The Madlands are an area for Suqi to build evil things, and welcomes anyone else. It is located in northern central Land of Chaos, east of Evil Chile and south of the Viren Islands.

There are two rules in the Madlands that people must follow while there:

  1. Do not cause or allow damage to sculk by you, another player, a mob, or redstone-related blocks.
  2. Do not place light blocks on or near the ground.

The Madlands are neither a political entity nor base. They are merely a location of activity. Suqi plans to convert it all to sculk and build generally evil-looking builds, much like their plans with the Realm of Madness. However, with the Madlands, there is no stress regarding politics and statecraft from it not being a ŋation, and there is no stress regarding needing a home or keeping items far away from their other bases from it not being a base.

The Madlands have no set border. The area of activity is fluid and can change rapidly from the construction or destruction of builds, or the spreading of sculk.

Sculk Blooms

There are two sculk blooms at present, but more are planned to be created. One sculk bloom is upon the Mountain of Madness, hosting the Madlands monster farm high above. The other sculk bloom is located in the small plains biome between the swamp and windswept hills. To prevent escape of the sculk into wilderness, the main region of the Madlands was made into an island. The Cenrail station to the Madlands has been transformed into an island to prevent escape into the rest of Cenrail, and a river is planned when the sculk blooms reach far beyond any structures in the territory.

Residents

The Madlands has 48 residents. They include Suwi, Janus, a donkey, and 45 creakings.

Geography

The Madlands are home to a variety of different biomes and natural formations. These generally inform the different location names in the territory.

Weird Epicenter

The Weird Epicenter, also called the Weird-Shaped Epicenter and the Epicenter That's Shaped Weird interchangeably, is the main region of activity in the Madlands. Currently, no structures exist in any other region.

XKZKLVKZLLSSXKWLFS,X Mountain Range

The XKZKLVKZLLSSXKWLFS,X Mountain Range is a mountain range in the northwest of the Madlands containing 3 mountains: the Mountain of Madness,

The Mountain of Madness was named after a mountain with the same name in the TV series Ninjago. It was the first sculk bloom in the area, having begun expanding during the existence of the Realm of Madness. Today, the crest is entirely covered in sculk, having first reached the ground in early December 2025. Its sculk bloom is powered by a mob farm high in the sky which constantly drops mobs onto the sculk catalyst on one of the mountain's faces.

The Evil Left

The Evil Left is a thin strip of plains biome in the west of the Weird-Shaped Epicenter and adjacent to Evil Chile, both features from which its name came from. It is currently empty save for one sculk block placed by an unknown entity, possibly an enderman.

Active Warzone With Withers And TNT

The Active Warzone With Withers And TNT (Warzone for short) is a large plains biome in the north of the Epicenter That's Shaped Weird. It is currently empty, but named in order to strike fear in the interŋational community due to it being so close to the Maizish colony Peppuakaija, which had expressed concerns over a wither that the Madlands had previously held as a pet.

Creaking Hills

The Creaking Hills are a windswept hills biome home to the Creaking House, which is where 21 of the Madlands' creakings live. The creakings tend to spawn wander outside the house at night. It also contains a lava farm on the roof that is planned to be moved to a volcano after one is built.

Penguhmbra

Penguhmbra is the plains island where the Madlands is accessed via Cenrail and Leshrail. It is named after the word penumbra, meaning the edge of shadow and light, based on the song Penumbra Phantasm by Toby Fox. The penumbra name is representative of how this island is the transition between the outer world (normal; light) and the Madlands (evil; shadow). Penguhmbra is also home to Penguhmbra Donkey, a donkey that was part of a payment to the Realm of Madness by the State of Confusion for land in the Condominium of Chaos[1] that it proceeded to refuse to claim[2].

Ground Zero

Ground Zero is a plains biome in the southern Madlands that contains a variety of strange structures, such as a UWO (Unidentified Walking Object) which contained an allay-powered silverfish farm that generated sculk, but has since been decomissioned due to the allays drowning. Ground Zero is the second sculk bloom to be created in the Madlands, having been created after the collapse of the Realm of Madness. It also contains a half-chunk hole straight down to the void known as the bottomless pit; a large nether portal used to spawn ghasts from the nether and farm swarms of magma cubes; and a small obsidian hut for allays to be bred.

Exploded Swamp

The Exploded Swamp is the southwestern swamp biome. It has no structures, but has undergone a far amount of destruction from the Madlands' former pet wither and from the separation of the Epicenter That's Shaped Weird's separation from the continent.

Florida

Not to be confused with the Florida from Coldba, the country of Floriŋə, or any fakeworld locations named Florida.

Florida is a small undeveloped swamp in the southeast of the Weird Epicenter. It is named as such because it roughly looks like the state of Florida and is a swamp, and is in a place called the Madlands.

Realm of Accidents

The Realm of Accidents is a small swamp island in the southwestern Madlands that was not originally claimed as part of the territory, but was accidentally separated from the continent with TNT by Suwi and Janus because Suwi mistook the area for being part of their claim.

Realm of Sanity

The Realm of Sanity is a small plains island in the northeastern Madlands pretending to be a state. They are named as the antithesis of the Realm of Madness and preach virtues such as reasonableness, critical thinking, and beaurocracy.

Shrek's Swamp

Shrek's Swamp is a small swamp island in the east of the Madlands that is home to Shrek and his outhouse. This island used to be connected to the continent, but was separated to clearly mark borders. Shrek was not happy about this.

Poupa & Pipi

Poupa and Pipi are a pair of very small plains islands east of the Realm of Sanity. They are named after the bouba/kiki effect.

Land of Confusion

I don't know.

Structures

Access

There are two primary methods of traveling to the Madlands. First is its Cenrail connection, and second is via a private rail in the nether. This private rail is accessible from the Coldban Leshrail Roof station and connects exclusively to the Madlands.

Allay Breeder

The southernmost build is a small allay breeder covered by obsidian for ghast fireball protection. Allays from there are taken and used in silverfish farms. Allays from the breeder may not be taken by other players.

Bottomless Pit

The bottomless pit remains bottomless.

Ghast Spawner

The infamous ghast spawner of the Realm of Madness remains important in the Madlands. It is the easternmost structure and uses giant portals and platforms in the nether to transport magma cubes and ghasts into the overworld as soon as they spawn. The magma cubes spawned from it are intended to be an additional source of XP for the silverfish sculk catalyst by falling into a now-sculkified box where they are killed by sweet berry bushes. However, it currently is facing issues with it appearing to not function unless chunks on the overworld and nether are loaded.

JanusHouse

The monster farm and JanusHouse

Not to be confused with Janus' controversial early Season 2 base in Ŋájaþáw.

Janus' Madlands house is a strange formation built near the monster farm made of several outdoor rooms including a maze and with long, winding single-block or parkour pathways between rooms. Notable rooms include the Piss Room and the Balls Room. This house is a major attraction and saw visitation from several players on the first day of its construction. Sq also contributed to building the Amogosroom and the Wrong Way, Doofus! Room. The official animal of JanusHouse is the Herpes Ghast, who lives in an ugly house.

Monster Farm

The westernmost and northernmost build is an automatic monster farm built high in the sky, which drops monsters onto a sculk catalyst on a mountain below. This fuels one of the two sculk blooms in the Madlands, and is less efficient.

Silverfish Farms

Alien silverfish farm
Mountain of Madness and the bacteriophage silverfish farm

As of December 4th, 2025, there is only one silverfish farm fully constructed, but more are planned. The silverfish farms, like the monster farm, fuel a sculk bloom and are much more effiicient at it.

The built silverfish farm is attached to an alien-looking structure which at its center holds a room with the supplies necessary to create potions of infestation. The silverfish farm is built out of obsidian and crying obsidian to protect it from ghast fireballs. Due to the farm's primary composition of crying obsidian, purple particles drop from above it to produce an effect similar to purple rain between the bottomless pit and the ghast spawner.

The other silverfish farm under construction is going to be shaped like a myovirus bacteriophage, inspired by the injectors from Steven Universe.

Weird Building

Between the monster farm and other structures, there is a weird black and purple building that serves no purpose. It has 3 stories, the top having no roof, and the second having windows shaped like a heart, diamond, club, and spade.
