Bootlandic Malagasy merges the retroflex plosives with their alveolar counterparts both in writing and in speech, so a word such as Standard Malagasy "adiditra" [adidiʈə] is instead "adidita" [adiditə] in Bootlandic Malagasy. It also fortifies /h/ to /x/.
