The Campfire Council was the central governing body of Emberland, it served as the primary system for representation of the citizens. Council meetings are traditionally held around the communal fire, located in Flamepoint. Since the creation of the Sovereignty role of Emberland, by Sovereign probablynotacriminal, it was sidelined in favour of the mentioned Sovereignty.

The Campfire Council, in its current appearance, in Flamepoint.

Loss of Power

After the passing of Council Member . ., probablynotacriminal was elected into the council. They saw the clear rivalry and division which was developing in the Council, and abused that weak point. They would position people against eachother, causing a direct split into two factions. During an election for Head of the Campfire Council, they would position themself as a neutral intermediary, and would win a slim majority in the election.

Over time, probablynotacriminal gradually curtailed the authority of the Campfire Council, consolidating it into the Head, by leveraging their growing influence and the ongoing internal divisions within the council itself. This culminated in the establishment of a new executive title; Sovereign of Emberland. They would claim that the Council had become far too bureaucratic and undemocratic, and that this new executive system would represent the people far better.

Current Situation

The Council is now only a puppet to the Sovereign, every action they make must be explicitly approved by the Sovereign, who can deny any and all actions. All members of the council are still elected, however the Sovereign may deny any person from gaining their seat, and can replace them with whomever they want.

The Front for a Democratic Emberland is the main force against the new system. They are classified as a terrorist organization by Council and Sovereign, and it is illegal to be a member. The front is also not without its controversy within Pro-Democratic communities, due to their sometimes violent actions against the system.
