Þaj (Þaj: Fāhsāh Þāj), formerly known as Sirenguarded Thai is a dialect of Standard Thai spoken in Sirenguard Autonomous District.

Changes from Standard Thai

Technically, Þaj is a descendant of Thai, with sound changes being the following (not in order)

Liquid deletion in consonant clusters

/l/ and /r/ disappeared after a consonant, though /w/ stayed. So กลาง /klāːŋ/ "middle" and กราง /krāːŋ/ "to rasp" merged with กาง /kāːŋ/ "to unfold", but กวาง /kwāːŋ/ remained.

Dentalization of liquids

/l/ and /r/ merged into /l̪/. So รัก /rák̚/ "to love" and ลัก /lák̚/ "to steal" merged into ลัก /l̪àk̚/.

Introduction of new codas from loanwords

/s/ and /l̪/ used to be merged with /t̚/ and /n/ respectively. But loanwords has made them appear, like in the word บาสเก็ตบอล "basketball", which can both be pronounced as /bàːt̚.kêt̚.bɔ̄n/ or /bàːs.kêt̚.bɔ̄l/
