Musan
The musan (Rokadong: musan), officially referred to as the gundarimusan (Rokadong: ), is the currency of the Kingdom of Rauratoshan. It is also the only official currency of the Ŋafrican Union as of February 19, 2026, although Ŋafrican Union laws do allow for multiple official currencies.
Mechanics
Ingame
The symbol used for musan ingame is "₻", though the symbol preferred is a Rokadong letter má () with two horizontal lines through it. The currency is backed primarily by raw gold, but distributed with written books. Raw iron is also considered part of the kingdom's treasury. Raw copper was originally part
Current regulation by the Rauratoshan Office of the Treasury is that ₻1 is equal to 2 raw gold, or one fifth of a slablet.
Musan can also be subdivided into 3 firos (, "shilling"), each worth 12 payang (, "penny"); that is, there are 36 (or 100 in seximal) payang to a musan. The number of payang in an account (beyond the integer number of musan in it) is traditionally represented in seximal, even though musan is typically represented in decimal. This is because this representation makes fractions of the musan more apparent, as "₻0;20" is more clearly one-third of a musan than "₻0;12".
Inlore
The ingame exchange rate of 5 musan to 1 slablet is chosen entirely for the sake of game design.
In-lore, the value of the musan should be based on PPP indices like the Big Mac Index. For the sake of quick calculations, Astaryuu assumes the musan is equal to $3 in 2026 United States dollars. In Nguhcraft, though, the Ahan, which is scaled more appropriately ingame for its in-lore use, is defined to be "enough to buy 1 meal," and Rauratoshan's minimum wage is defined to be "enough to buy a day's food". A day's food can be assumed to be 4 meals for the sake of comparison, due to Minaro-Cohasian cultural norms around eating and sleep.
According to the Laws of Rauratoshan, the minimum wage is calculated to be 12 musan 18 payang, or RA$12.50. When considered equal to 4 Ahan, the exchange rate ends up being 1000 musan to the slablet, rather than a mere 5 musan to the slablet.
Overall
The current most expensive single purchase in Nguhcraft, 16 slabs for 1 tall grass item, is equal to either 2560 musan or 512,000 musan depending on if one uses the in-game raw gold conversion or the in-lore Ahan conversion. Per the rough USD conversion index, this means that item could be considered to be worth a comical US$1,536,000, notable for being nearly five times the value of Astaryuu's real life house at the time.[1]
Banks
The Royal Bank of Rauratoshan in Azeria manages the coffers of the Rauratoshan Kingdom, as well as conversions from diamond, raw copper, and raw iron into musan.
Other Rauratoshanian currency
The musan is the only state-backed form of currency in Rauratoshan. However, there are two other currency types that may see use in Rauratoshan, though neither are used for official business.
Furcoin
Furcoin (plural "furcoins") is an in-game cryptocurrency created as a joke.
A furcoin is a poisonous potato named "X X Furcoin", where X is a number. X can be any number, as long as it is less than or equal to the last number used.
The first minted furcoin had a value of 1,0000,0000,0000 (1 trillion coins). A furcoin can be "broken", or turned into multiple coins equal to the original coin's value, without affecting the ledger's current minimum value.
Furcoin is not simply represented as poisonous potatoes, it IS the potato. This allows anyone on the server to mint furcoin.
Like cryptocurrency, furcoins are ideally unregulated and decentralized. However, the requisite log to ensure that minted furcoins are less than or equal to the last furcoin used necessitates a "ledger" (though it is similar to a bank, it is NOT a bank, as it is called a ledger and has no staff) for furcoin, which is stored on a Google Sheets file.
Blood Diamonds
- Main article: Blood Diamond
Blood diamonds are netherrack renamed to "Diamond". While technically non-renewable, blood diamonds are basically useless, so are not treated as a serious currency by Rauratoshan.
