Blood Diamond

Blood diamonds are a joke currency created in the Rauratoshan Kingdom. It is not supported by Rauratoshanian law, and the Royal Court of Justice's position is that one uses blood diamonds at their own risk of being scammed.

Etymology

"Blood diamonds" are a play on the real world item of the same name. In the fakeworld as well as in Nguhcraft, diamonds that are mined out of the ground are seen as valuable; however, in the fakeworld, lab-grown diamonds are possible, and are functionally identical to mined diamonds. To maintain the economy of diamonds, some organizations state that only mined diamonds count. Because the working conditions of these mines are usually terrible, mined diamonds are referred to pejoratively as "blood diamonds" in the fakeworld.

Netherrack is red, and almost everything else in the Nether is tied up with the dead, undead, or dying, so the name makes sense for Nguhcraft's blood diamonds as well even though (presumably) no enslavement was involved in the mining of netherrack.

Mechanics

Blood diamonds are created when someone renames a block of netherrack to "Diamond Block" or some official translation thereof.

The value of a blood diamond relative to a petrified oak slab is 1 blood diamond = 0.00013241525423728813559322033898305084745762711864406779661016949 slablets, or two storage modules (7332 total blocks) of blood diamonds per slablet.[citation needed] This extreme worthlessness is why the currency remains almost entirely unimplemented, but because it is referenced multiple times in Rauratoshan, this page was created.
