Bez
Bez, or, "Bezzism" in English, is a set of philosophical and governing methods practiced in western Menaiceraum, mostly in the Fwonnel Peninsula, Permechiko, and Delsh. When several Arojaunzans were somehow turned into Minecraft villagers and transported to Nguhcraft, this became the official religion and governing structure of the Bezuvate of Xarslasja.
Beliefs and Practices
The core mantra of Bez is "Ja, K'a, Wa; Jo, K'o, Wo" - "I am, I was, I will be; It is, it was, it will be." This phrase refers to the world and its matter, as all things are holding themselves up against the force of entropy and decay. For one to acknowledge the infinite past and future and one's situation in the present, one can help to uphold order over chaos.
In the Dog Days world, there is one main deity - Xororx. Xororx is an amorphous being that is the personification of chaos and entropy. Typically, adherents of Bez consider it their duty to create and uphold order and complexity in the physical world as well as the mental world as a way to fight off Xororx. The "Arrival of Xororx" is the mythical apocalypse in the Bez faith, referring to a state of large-scale societal and environemntal disorder that allows, and even warrants, Xororx's eternal goal of flattening the world, making land and sea one neverending, perfectly flat surface with which Xororx can create a new world with new life. In Bez folklore, the world has been given texture and life several times since the infinite past, but each time the species endowed with "sentience" has failed to uphold the world system with sustainable terraforming and societal development. Before the pups (dog people) were endowed with sentience, humans were, according to post-Rediscovery philosophers, the previous species given a chance to terraform the world.
Several times in history, acts of government were deemed by the populace to be "against Bez" and thus increased the risk of the Arrival of Xororx to destroy the world. Natural disasters, failures in war, and diseases have all been blamed on those endowed with power, as their ability to mobilize massive changes to the landscape moreso than any individual made their decisions carry much more weight as to the condition of the world as a whole. Although Xororx is the deity which threatens to destroy the world or wreak chaos on a people, most adherents to Bez do not harbor animosity towards Xororx, as its actions are deemed warranted. As a Bez saying goes, "We'll have earned what Xororx brings." Many governments, especially in the Fwonnel Peninsula, have had governments called Bezzunou "Bezuvates," led by Bezzubuv "Bezuvs," who are considered the "rulers of balance" or "Head Terraformers" of the states which they rule.
In Xarslasja
The Bezuvate of Xarslasja operates under the rule of the Bezuv Agma Schwa. The Bez philosophy of creating a sustainable order informs most of the decisions made in the construction and maintenance of Xarslasjan society.
Greenification
The "Greenification" is an ongoing mission by the Xarslasjan government to plant trees and install grass throughout the whole of the Xarslasjan Desert biome. The entirety of the shores of the Colorado River has been greenified, and the various towns in the desert have become more green over time.
Ætérnalist Bez
In cultural syncretism with the rest of Nguhcraft, the Xarslasjan population adopted elements of Ætérnalism over the course of early 2024. Most religious practices remain the same, however, Ætérnal is added to the pantheon as a deity of order, economy, and time. Many Xarslasjan citizens have personally met Ætérnal, and most are aware that he is a physical being who operates the Slab Exchange. He is considered a deity all the same, just as their Bezuv Agma Schwa is.
