The first election to the Parliament of Rauratoshan took place on Minákkage 15 Parfarita, Kanata 100. During it, 7 of the 10 incumbents up for re-election were replaced.
Participants
New Kairi District
Incumbents
Daisuke Azuki ran under the Conservative Party. This year, he was calling for cooler heads to prevail in the fraught political landscape of Hanyalezi and Palontana.
Kokoya Randa ran under the Preservation Party. She called for enforcement of Arlikazda's will, that since Nozomi was nominated for the throne, Rauratoshan has lost sight of what makes a strong leader.
Challengers
Lethen Katamio ran under the Liberal Republican party. He was calling for reinforcement of the Rauratoshanian economy.
Miguel Valentina ran under the Unity Party. He calls for "Glory to Rauratoshan", also calling for unity, but also calling those with differing opinions un-Rokaselan.
Jennifer Môze ran under the Socialist Workers' party. She called out Randa specifically, calling her an unfit MP. However, her calling New Kairi District the backwater of Rauratoshan nearly cost her the primary.
Rafiteláh District
Incumbents
Hipapotamansoqa Faba ran as an independent, albeit with connections to the Rauratoshan Vulgar Authority. He saw himself as the perennial devil's advocate. While more vocal members of the public called him an enlightened centrist, he won last year by calling for increasing development of Astona Hill's infrastructure, something he wished to continue doing this term.
Teska Manjâ ran under the Madness Multiverse Party. However, she went against the grain of her party as a proponent of laissez-faire economics, saying they will stimulate the growth of big businesses.
Challengers
Teska Pekoyarit was known for protests against the Adnaran Greenification, as a documentarian of the Natural Nguhcraft series. She was running on a platform of environmentalism. She was known for refusing to mince words; this campaign, she explicitly called Manjâ a traitor to the Rokaselan people. This earned her the highest proportion of the primary vote of any challenger, at 70%.
Hanbi Ngâ was running as an independent. She ran purely to joke amongst her political science peers in the Royal Academy of Rauratoshan Kingdom, but her support of entrepeneurship and gig economy was shockingly successful. She did not make the 25% cutoff for winning the primaries thanks to Pekoyarit's landslide victory, but got in anyway since two challengers per district are guaranteed to advance to the general election.
Nahoteláh District
Incumbents
Fainon Aidas ran as a Liberal Republican. His platform was on supporting small town interests and mom-and-pop stores. However, he was not as vocal of a trust-buster as his Rekalekatanah contemporaries.
Jacqueline Greene ran on behalf of the Madness Multiverse Mansion. Her platform was on enshrining universal healthcare and universal basic income, as opposed to requiring businesses to provide these.
Challengers
Marananun, as an allay, was the first Nguhcraft sapient to see ŋational success in Rauratoshanian politics. However, xe was running under the Rauratoshan Vulgar Authority's banner. Xe was a radical liberal who wishes to enshrine freedom of speech into the Constitution of Rauratoshan, but xe was very vocal that xe was against being criticized for xir hatred of the singular they, putting into question xir true intentions.
Still, that was not enough to make Reńsela Asánraho, widow of the late ambassador to Maraśa, Saireth Asánraho, fail to meet the 25% cutoff. Running for the Preservation Party, this political pundit was known for stressing the differences between her native Murya Island and the "big government" guys at Irisela, and has complained about people entering Rauratoshan without citizenship, so she was expected to take action on both of these fronts.
Rekalekatanah District
Incumbents
Melanie Velasquez ran under the Socialist Workers' Party. As a communist, she campaigned on funding public park projects such as the Glowberry Park. This project, she noted, fell under the wayside in Kanata 100 due to the constitutional crisis in the wake of the Maraśań Civil War. This campaign had seen a surprising amount of effectiveness thanks to Rauratoshan's tradition of stressing oneness with the environment.
Lagami Kámmiyo ran under the Conservative Party. He criticized the Star-Path Minigames for driving the Rauratoshanian economy away from its roots in agriculture. In his words, businesses like them are "turning Rauratoshan into a tourist trap."
Challengers
Nick Bosch ran under the Conservative Party. He was staunchly against the Madness Multiverse Mansion. He referenced the Rose Corporation incident, and said that the roughly two dozen offices of the Madness Multiverse Mansion look awfully like the Rose Corporation, and they are essentially the only name in town for private research and development.
Mastan Kagemiyo ran under the Liberal Republican Party. Citing Rauratoshan's shocking lack of official protections regarding civil liberties, he was pushing for the guarantee of freedom of religion in Rauratoshan. Thankfully, his main enemies on the matter, Randa and Asánraho, were in other districts.
Elemental District
Incumbents
Evan Scorch ran under the Liberal Republican Party. He was a staunch anti-monarchist, and wished to depower the Rauratoshanian Crown.
Alicia Betts ran under the Liberal Republican Party. Like Kagemiyo, she had noted Rauratoshan's lack of civil liberty insurance compared to the Elemental Republic. As a lesbian herself, Betts was calling for the protection of gay marriage.
Challengers
Patrick Blank ran under the Conservative Party. As a rival to Scorch, Blank ran under the banner of pro-monarchism. However, Elementalites commonly joked that Blank's true policies are blank: "he solely goes for whatever is the opposite of Scorch."
Amy Shockery ran as an independent. She was not shy about being backed by Star-Path Minigames, and wished to support tourism as a growing business in Rauratoshan, by creating more things worth visiting Rauratoshan for.
Selanya Marasharit ran under the Madness Multiverse Party. She was a state capitalist, and cited the extremely strong success Kozdenen has had, as the premier in ironworks and the wool industry, as proof that state capitalism works.
Results
While no majority party was declared, the Liberal Republican Party maintained a plurality of seats in Parliament, with 10 out of 25 seats.
That being said, second place switched from the Conservatives to the Socialist Workers, as both parties stress that economic controls may be necessary to protect individual freedoms. Interestingly, the most supported candidate, Jacqueline Greene, was in neither party, as a Madness Multiverse Party candidate. However, her campaign reflects this stress toward welfare and protections.
That being said, with several upset victories, discussions during this term have been significantly more heated, with discussion over the framework of the Rauratoshanian legislature ongoing. Marananun (VA-NT), for example, has pushed considerably throughout the Kanata 101 term to divide Nahoteláh District into the Remulapola metropolitan area and the more rural Muryateláh, Island of
, and Island of
. Some, albeit not enough to generate a quorum as of Pinakage 10 Rokorita, Kanata 101, agree that this is warranted, as the more urban Remulapola swamps the more rural Muryateláh in the vote, while others think that that's fair since there's more people in Remulapola. One counterargument, raised by Teska Pekoyarit (SW-RT), was that maybe instead of having exactly 5 ministers per district, ministers could be apportioned according to their population. This saw somewhat more favor, but then immediate argument over what this would do to election procedures was raised, as this would likely mean several MPs would be removed without re-election, or would have to change districts at a minimum. The primary elections begin on Dungkage 10 Korakarita, Kanata 101, so a decision is expected by then.
