Rafi Island (English: /ˈnɑhow ˈajlənd/, Rokadong: Rafiteláh /ˈnaotelaːʔ/) is an island in the seas south of Ŋafrica. The island is part of Rauratoshan, and contains a Rauratoshan Loop stop, and the towns of Yunrai and Astona, often referred to together as the Astona Hill micropolitan area.
Contents
Rafi Island is the second-largest island of Rauratoshan, almost as big as Rasókairi Island, and so forms an entire district on its own, Rafiteláh District.
There are two towns on Rafi Island: Yunrai, found on the eastern side of the island, and Astona, formed around the Rauratoshan Royal Academy's headquarters, Astona Castle. These two towns are divided by Astona Hill, which is presumably part of the same geological formation as Kuvilayu Ridge. The area between the two towns is sparsely developed, only including the first Underflow Storage building (which is considered to be in Yunrai despite being closer to Astona) and the RTS Loop station; although Yunas Cemetery is nearby, it is considered to be the western edge of Yunrai.
Etymology
"Rafiteláh" is Rokadong for "winter island", presumably in reference to its less humid environment relative to Naho Island, which causes winters to be colder on Rafi Island than on Naho Island.
"Astona" means "bronze" in Rokadong. The hill was named for the trial chamber found underneath it, which is the first structure on Rafi Island and was presumably built before the Rauratoshanian incursion. The town and castle were named after the hill.
