Petrified Oak Slabs, or simply Slabs, are a currency in The Land of Nguh. Petrified Oak Slabs have been unobtainable in Minecraft (outside of commands and the like) since version 1.3.1, making them hard to counterfeit. Their usage declined, but Ætérnal handed out slabs to players on 10 March 2024, leading to a gradual comeback of the currency, with several banks throughout the world accepting the currency by April 2024.
Slablets are a modded item used as a subdivision of slabs. They are available in units of 1, 2, 4, 8 and 16, each craftable from adjacent denominations in both directions. 1 Slab is equal to 32 Slablets.
Appearance
Unlike vanilla Minecraft, in which petrified oak slabs are identical to normal oak slabs, in Nguhcraft Slabs have a unique texture resembling real petrified wood. Slablets appear as pieces of bark from the slab, with a colored rim indicating their value.

Prior to the 1.21.4 update, Slablets took the form of Tattered books, which are similarly unused in vanilla Minecraft. They came in the same denominations as current Slablets, but had no relation to each other or to full Slabs in crafting, and thus could only be obtained at the Slab Exchange. Players have been instructed to exchange any Slablet books they may have for the new Slablet item at the Slab Exchange.
History
Old Kingdom uses
During the Old Kingdom, the Slab Exchange was constructed by Ætérnal for the purpose of having a central hub for currency and exchange rates. The initial supply of slabs and slablets were given out at some point in late 2022, but they were used primarily to fund the Penta-Village Loop railway around the Five-Village Network. By the time of The Raid, Slabs had not been used in several months.
United Ŋations era
In the months following the re-accumulation of civilization and the founding of the United Ŋations, speculation of a return to the POS system went around the land. Ætérnal distributed Slabs and Slablets to various towns and other locations around the world on 10 March 2024. Evidence of Slab transactions for goods is present within three weeks of this insertion of currency into the market.
Xarslasja established the Great Desert Bank in late March 2024, with the Slab Exchange's Exchange Rate prominently displayed on the Bank's Wall and one stack of grass blocks available for One Slablet. On 1 April 2024, the first transaction took place at the Great Desert Bank: 27 stacks of grass blocks in exchange for 27 Slablets.
