The Viren Islands (/ˈvɪəɹ.ən/; Xindvâ: Hvâ Tve Viren [xwɑ twe vi.ɾɛn]; Japanese: 羊諸島 Viren Shotō /βiɾeɴ ɕotoː/ "the Sheep Islands") are an archipelago of eight islands that separates the Sea of Fortune from the Amujan Sea. They are currently administered by Aylongam as Viren Islands Prefecture. The South Island contains a large native population of sheep, for which the island group was named.
