Dagaluntish is a language disputed by the Government of Enkavak. It is uncertain if it is truly its own language or a dialect of another language or what language family it is part of due to the Atlantic Government claiming it to simply be a subdialect, sociolect or regional adaption of the Laevanak standard language and refusing to do the needed linguistic research on it. The only information we have on this language are from hobby linguists living in Dagalunt, who claim that Dagaluntish is not just a subdialect of Laevanaak and that this view of the Atlantic Government is imperialist and a proof for the threat that Enkavak is to the Dagalunt people.

Phonology

Most of the hobby linguists document phonemic inventories of Dagaluntish that differ slightly from each other and no standardised phonemic inventory has been accepted yet, although they are close enough to summarize them in one diagram.

Consonants Labial Coronal Palatal Dorsal
Nasals m n ŋ
Plosives Voiceless p t k
Voiced b d g
Fricatives ɸ θ s ʃ x h
Approximants w l j (w)
Trills r r̥

Fricatives are often listed together with either phonetic or phonemic voiced counterparts. Sometimes Affricates are listed as well, altho the labial and dorsal voiced affricates are rarely to never listed. Gemmination of most consonants are listed as well, tho this is often done very differently and sometimes entirely disputed.

Vowels Front Center Back
Unrounded Rounded
Close i y (ʉ) (ʊ)
Mid e (ɛ) ø ə (ɜ) o (ɔ)
Open a

ʉ and ʊ are usually listed as either allophones or phonemic realisations of the same phoneme. Sometimes this phoneme is described as /y/, sometimes it is a separate phoneme like /u/. ɛ, ɜ and ɔ are usually listed as allophones of e, ə and o respectively in diphthongs or other situations, though sometimes also listed as separate phonemes. It is mostly agreed upon that Dagaluntish has phonemic nasalisation.

There are usually two diphthongs. /oy/ and /oa/ which are usually documented to be realised as [ɔy̯] and [oa̯] respectively.

Grammar

The syntax of Dagaluntish is usually described as SVO with a bit of flexability. Adjective usually go after the noun, but this seems not to be too consistant. Described cases include Nominative, Accusative, Dative and Genitive while some also list a Commitative or Instrumental, which are usually the same case. Most agree that the numbers are Singular Paucal and Plural. Grammatical gender is very disputed in Dagaluntish and most describe it as a very abstract thing that has very little to do with grammatical gender of other languages. Eventhough most people disagree what it is semantically, it is quite clear that it somehow exists, due to different adjective and pronoun forms.

Vocabulary

It is very rare to see documentations of Dagaluntish with a substantial list of words used or even example texts. Most sources also disagree on the exact spelling of the words.
