Beginning shortly after East Pua gained independence there was a critical fuel shortage within the country. The new government attempted to ration the rapidly dwindling fuel stores but eventually even they had run out, leading to the citizens pulling the shingles from their homes in order to cook food. The fuel crisis lasted from 12 July to 14 July until fuel production returned to normal and caught up with demand. The whole event spurred the East Puan government to consider revamping the fuel industry as well as many other industries left in disarray after the ousting of the monarchy.
