Ityn

A common form of depicting Ityn is as her mirror, with the invocation glyph of the Sun Goddess Miŋe inside of it, and the rainbow reflected out over a dark night sky.

Ityn (Śácamþaśá: ntUi /ˈitɵn/), sometimes referred to by her title ‘Gilded Queen of Crude Stars' (Śácamþaśá: mAnItujAgaLU gI^rsunAzu Þunasyiŋe Łyŋájatunema /θunasɘi̯ŋɪ ɬɵŋɑːjɐtunɪmɐ/), is a star and divine being in the Tomorrow Constellation, according to Śácamþań tradition. The ‘crude stars’ in her title refers to the galactic disc, as this is seen as a band of immature star fragments. Her title as Tunema commands significant respect, and this is seen in her depictions, generally wearing the Quń Nqu or royal necklace, dressed in crimson and gold, and holding her mirror, which is believed to be the source of the rainbow.

Character

Unlike the Śácamþań deities, divinities such as stars and mermaids do have human-like personalities. Ityn‘s character is somewhat temperamental, demanding a level of respect which her siblings do not. Indeed, the other stars in the Tomorrow Constellation address her as jájme mIjjo ‘elder adult sister’ out of respect, despite the fact that all stars were created at the same point in time. She cares little for mortal affairs, and can respond aggressively when ordered around by them[1], rather than simply ignoring the instructions as her siblings generally do.

Nozomi-Ityn

During the Maraśań Civil War, the exposing of the Quing Wetáŋa as being in actuality a mortal named Áń Wyiŋaq Cáśy Cáŋaj led to a religious crisis. Religious authorities looking for a new God-Quing found the relatively regal character of Ityn among the Śácamþań mythos, and found that the title of ‘Queen of the Galaxy’ was in fact in use on Ŋearth, as the name Rauratoshan could be taken to mean ‘Galaxy’, and it is led by a Quing named Nozomi I Caramella. With assistance from conservative elements within Rauratoshan, namely the Preservation Party and the Madness Multiverse Mansion, these Sun Priests proclaimed Nozomi to be Ityn, ignorant of the true plans of the Preservation Party to replace her with their own pundit, MP Randa.

Nozomi herself was unwilling to go ahead with this arrangement, but went to Maraśa anyway, where she had one of her guards stab her to prove her own mortality, and then fled through a Nether Portal aboard the Rauratoshanian embassy, placed there for that purpose. This led to an additional outbreak of violence in the Maraśań Civil War, and the murder by solar fire of the ambassador Asánraho created an additional diplomatic incident. Most in Maraśa are convinced knowledge of the event would make the real Ityn furious.
