The Viren Islands (/ˈvɪəɹ.ən/; Xindvâ: Tve Viren [twe vi.ɾɛn]; Virenese: Tu Weren [tu ˈwe.ɾen]; Japanese: 羊諸島 Viren Shotō [βiɾẽɰ̃ ɕotoː] "the Sheep Islands") are an archipelago of eight islands that separates the Sea of Fortune from the Amujan Sea. They are currently administered by Aylongam as Viren Islands Prefecture. The South Island contains a large native population of sheep, for which the island group was named.
