Sirenian (Sirenian: Fāhsáh Sajrenian), formerly known as Sirenguarded Thai and Þaj is a dialect of Standard Siamese spoken in Sirenguard Autonomous District.

History

Lorewise, no one really know where it's from. The settlers and the first Sirenian speakers spoke Occitan and Mosici. With most only remembering that they mysteriously started speaking Sirenian on the ship from Chalmosique to Sirenguard.

Sirenian used to be written with the Thai script, but later adopted Latin due to Thai script being ugly as fuck in Minecraft.

Changes from Standard Siamese

Technically, Sirenian is a descendant of Siamese, with sound changes being the following (not in order)

Liquid deletion in consonant clusters

/l/ and /r/ disappeared after a consonant, though /w/ stayed. So กลาง /klāːŋ/ "middle" and กราง /krāːŋ/ "to rasp" merged with กาง /kāːŋ/ "to unfold", but กวาง /kwāːŋ/ remained.

Dentalization of liquids

/l/ and /r/ merged into /l̪/. So รัก /rák̚/ "to love" and ลัก /lák̚/ "to steal" merged into ลัก /l̪àk̚/.

Introduction of new codas from loanwords

/s/ and /l̪/ was merged with /t̚/ and /n/ respectively. But was reintroduced in loanwords, like in the word บาสเก็ตบอล "basketball", which can both be pronounced as /bàːt̚.kêt̚.bɔ̄n/ or /bàːs.kêt̚.bɔ̄l/

Centering of dipthongs

ia̯, ua̯, and ɯa̯ becomes iə̯, uə̯, and ɯə̯ respectively.

Labialization before rounded vowels

Consonants become labialized before u(ː).

Lenition of /kʰ/

/kʰ/ was shifted into /χ/

Pre-Nguhcraft Sirenian

Pre-Nguhcraft Sirenian lexicon has 3 main sources.

1. Native Sirenian

Native Sirenian words are usually monosyllabic and used more often than words from other sources.
