The Rauratoshan Kingdom (English: [ˌɹaʊɹəˈtoʊʃɑn], Rokadong:  󴀄 Sinyasan Rauratoshan [ˈʃiɲaˌsan ˌɾɑwɾəˈtoʃan]), often shortened to just Rauratoshan, is a country on the Southern Ŋafrican coast, north of the Islands of Ʒimh Gwynh.

Etymology

"Rauratoshan" comes from the Rokadong words "rauru" (star) and "shan" (path); the intermediate "to" is from Rokadong's genitive particle. Therefore, the full name means "the path of the stars". Owing to the similar word selshan, meaning galaxy, the name might also refer to the Milky Way galaxy, or the Galaxy System.

Geography

Rauratoshan is primarily comprised of jungle, forest, and savanna biome. Its borders are entirely natural boundaries, traditionally defined as the Islands of Ʒimh Gwynh (which are not claimed by Rauratoshan, but the intervening sea serves as its boundary), the Magaha River, and the desert of Ŋegypt.

Ŋafrican Mainland

Much of Rauratoshan's territory is on the mainland of Ŋafrica. Landmarks of mainland Rauratoshan include Chunkerror Cliffs and the Lilac Forest. Four of the eight stops on the Rauratoshan Loop are on the mainland.

Chunkerror Cliffs

Main article: Chunkerror Cliffs

The Chunkerror Cliffs are a landmark near the town of Yunrai. Contrary to their name, they are not the site of an actual chunk error, but instead, the site of a mining operation wherein an entire chunk was leveled down to bedrock.

Islands of Rauratoshan

Rauratoshanian territory includes six islands: Naho Island, Rafi Island, Irisela Island, Murya Island, Island of :worst_anguish:, and Island of :hotspot:. The first four of these all are stops on the Rauratoshan Loop as well.

Naho Island

Main article: Naho Island

Naho Island serves as the core of Rauratoshanian power. It contains Remulapola, which is where Original House of Caramella and Original House of Draconis are found. Its most prominent landmark is the Rhetaleta Shrine, a shrine to the deity of the same name which is protected territory.

Rafi Island

Main article: Rafi Island

Rafi Island is the other major island of Rauratoshan. It hosts the Rauratoshan Royal Academy, a major institute of learning in Rauratoshan, as well as the town of Yunrai.

Irisela Island

Main article: Irisela Island

Irisela Island is very close to Naho Island, and holds the actual castle of Rauratoshan's royalty, Irisela Castle. However, beyond its purpose of housing nobility and other such people, Irisela Island is not very significant.

Murya Island

Main article: Murya Island

Murya Island is somewhat close to Irisela Island. It is most well known for its observatory.

Island of is a Nguhcordian-named island which hosts the Rauratoshan Vulgar Authority.

The Rauratoshanian banner is the form of the Rauratoshanian flag presented ingame. The white chevron and spiral represent the sun and the land; the sun is said to be bathing the land in light, while the people on the land (the Rauratoshanians) are striving for the sun. The black stripes represents the work of the people, or more loosely, their blood. The blue stripes on either side represent the crown, who supports the people in turn.

Demographics and Culture

Rauratoshan is made up primarily of kanvas. Astaryuu approximates their unique morphology in Nguhcraft through the use of the Customizable Player Models mod. The majority of Rauratoshan's kanvas are of the Akuylian race, which typically have blue or cyan fur patterns, but all kanva races are present in Rauratoshan.

Languages

Rokadong is the only official language of Rauratoshan. Officially speaking, this means that Rokadong language classes are provided in Rauratoshanian schools. However, English and Spanish are "state-recognized working languages."

For these working languages, language education is not mandatory, and neither is non-government signage in the target language. However, businesses operating in Rauratoshan are expected to have English and Spanish translation services, or plainly disclose that they do not offer such services, and government bodies (such as the Royal Bank of Rauratoshan) are required to offer services in all such languages.

It is of note that most Rauratoshanian schools, despite the lack of a mandate to do so, do offer education in English and Spanish. These are typically offered as an elective, however.

Religion

Main article: Yukacan

Yukacan is by far the most popular religion of Rauratoshan. It is a polytheistic religion with many sub-groups based on the deities the given community deems to be important. Some of these deities are from other Nguhcraftian religions, such as Ætérnal (often referred to as  Ngod) and Charlotte ( Cárlota). It is believed that Ætérnalism reached Rauratoshan through Miŋejácár.

Rauratoshan's royal lineage is said to be closely linked to the theology of Yukacan. It is said that the leader of the pantheon gave the first king of Rauratoshan the royal regalia of Rauratoshan. Therefore, Yukacan is the de facto official religion of Rauratoshan. Yukacan is treated rather loosely by official religion standards. Citizenship does not require any Yukacan rituals, for example. However, freedom of religion is not currently guaranteed in Rauratoshan.

Politics

Governance

Main article: Politics of Rauratoshan

At the time of the Rauratoshanian incursion, Rauratoshan was an absolute monarchy, though its monarch at the time died in the process, and no heirs were transferred either, so a new dynasty was required. While the official English translation for the ruling monarch is "Quing Regent", Rokadong documentation uses the gendered terms "king regent" and "queen regent" in addition to "quing regent".

The member of the royal family with any "regent" title has final say over political decisions, though generally the regent's spouse and anyone else the regent allows to do so is also allowed to make political decisions. In general, it is assumed that the monarch whose parent was regent of Rauratoshan before them will be regent of Rauratoshan, unless they give this power to their spouse.

While the regent's rule remains absolute as of 13 January 2025, Quing Regent Nozomi has been considering converting Rauratoshan into a constitutional monarchy, though the constitution for such a government is not drafted yet. With this in mind, a couple of political organizations are brewing behind the scenes, likely to be those who run the moment they are able to do so. Some monarchy-loyalists have stated that this is madness, and that the mayor of Elemental City has put the queen up to this.

Districts

Rauratoshan is formally divided into four districts: Irisela Province, Rafi Province, Rekalekatana Province, and Elemental District.

Each district is further divided into counties. For Irisela Province, the counties fall entirely on coastal lines, with Irisela County, Naho County, and Murya County. For Rafi Province, the counties fall on dimensional lines, with Fallenarbor City being considered a county of Rafi Province. Rekalekatana Province is divided into Lígatal County, Azeria County, and Gilci County.

The three districts that use the name "province" are all under direct control of the Rauratoshanian crown, while Elemental District is semi-autonomous, and is mostly free to make its own decisions as long as they pay a portion of their taxes to the Rauratoshanian Crown.

Economy

Main article: Musan

Rauratoshan's major economic pulls currently are of the farming variety. For example, the sculk farm in Azeria and the tree farm in Elemental City are significant. However, there is an in-progress initiative, the so-called "Star-Path Minigames", to bring more service-based economic progress to Rauratoshan. The first building constructed for this initiative is the work-in-progress Jungle Temple Run in Remulapola.

The kingdom uses a currency referred to as "gundarimusan" (, literally "crown marks"), or just "musan" (, literally "marks"). The symbol used for musan ingame is "₻", though the symbol preferred is a Rokadong letter () with two horizontal lines through it. The currency is backed primarily by raw iron, but distributed with paper; current regulation by the Rauratoshan Office of the Treasury is that RA$1 is equal to 4 raw iron. Musan can also be subdivided into 3 firos (, "shilling"), each worth 12 payang (, "penny"); that is, there are 36 (or 100 in seximal) payang to a musan.

The Royal Bank of Rauratoshan in Azeria manages the coffers of the Rauratoshan Kingdom, as well as conversions from diamond, raw gold, and raw iron into musan, and vice versa.
