Tonto National Forest
Tonto National Forest (Arodjun: Kudmaum Djet Tontobwa) is one of the National Forests of Xarslasja, located in Yuma County and Yavapai County. The National Forest is comprised of the northern Xu Arslau Desert, the Painted Desert, and the acacialands and forests of northern Yavapai County. The town of Clifton is almost completely surrounded by protected Tonto Forest land.
The Forest also contains geographic features such as the Mogollon Rim, the Vortexes, and Mazatzal Peak. Cave Creek National Park is a subdivision within the Tonto National Forest.
Parts of the forest’s protected land have been annexed by Yuɱa and Sedona over time, but these boundaries are largely the only thing preventing the Yuma metropolitan area from expanding indefinitely.
