The idea for an international organization in the Gulf region was first introduced by Total pleb of Kozdenen in August 2024. Sofao Tâsi and Nošaterçe were founded the ninth of the following month, and MápabaL was founded on 7 January. With these new neighbors, Pleb’s idea had become more plausible. ====== Founding and early days of the Union (4 February 2025 - 27 February 2025) ====== | |||
The founding treaty was signed on 4 February 2025 by the ŋations of Kozdenen, MápabaL, Nošaterçe, R̦ijeləm, and Sofao Tâsi, thus creating the Gulf Union with BaLbeL as its capital. On 7 February, invitations were sent to the governments of Enkavak, i Êpcêm Mûn-nan, Imerchal and the Kingdom of Kyaw Cen due to being nearby countries in southern Slabland with economic interests in the Gulf region. All of the invitees accepted their invitations by 16 February, with Enkavak being the last of them to accept. | |||
The CMCxplosion occurred on 7 February, the same day as the sending of Enkavak, i Êpcêm Mûn-nan, Imerchal, and Kyaw Cen’s invitations, being set off following an attempt by Lux Moniridia to become a foreign representative of the Gulf Union, and a subsequent attempt to found a new state in order to be eligible for membership. | |||
Maple of i Êpcêm Mûn-nan suggested a banner and flag inspired by the fakeworld’s flag of Greenland on 14 February. Marcy Sheikah’s flag design, based on the banner, followed soon after. | |||
Cenroad, an Atlantic-Kyawcenni civil construction company, was enlisted by the Gulf Union, following a vote on 23 February, to expand their Cenroad system into the GHaST Network. The GHaST Network also subsumed Imerchal’s road network, where major roads take on two names to this day. | |||

On 27 February and 1 March, respectively, T'anshilebs and sq's Territories each claimed extremely small exclaves on the southern coast of the Gulf, explicitly so as to apply for membership to the Gulf Union. This concerned Gulf Council at the time, in no small part thanks to the similarities between these claims and the attempted claim of Ngasegak during the CMCxplosion less than a month prior. Both applications for membership were rejected in simultaneous votes, becoming the first ever rejected applications for membership. A proposal by Pleb to create an "observer" status for the Gulf Council passed a vote. It was intended to be used for T'anshilebs and/or sq’s Territories, but was never applied to either, and in fact still lacks a specific definition and has never been put into practice since. | |||

The Gulf Union (GU) is a supranational political and economic union of 14 member states established with the intent of fostering cooperation between states located around the Gulf of Kozdenen and its connected waterways, comprising a transcontinental region straddling southern Slabland and northeastern Thasusa. The GHaST Network and the Gulf Cenrail Lines are managed by the Gulf Union.
Name
The Gulf Union was named after the Gulf of Kozdenen, a body of water that the original five member states were bordering.

History
Pre-founding (prior to 4 February 2025)
The idea for an international organization in the Gulf region was first introduced by Total pleb of Kozdenen in August 2024[1]. At the time when he suggested this idea, most of the ŋations that are now members did not exist yet. Pleb had been devising plans to incentivize settling in the region since at least as far back as April of that same year[2], after the strategy of simply begging people proved ineffective on its own[3]. The idea that would become the Gulf Union may have been a continuation of these strategies.
Sofao Tâsi and Nošaterçe were founded the ninth of the following month, and MápabaL was founded on 7 January. With these new neighbors, Pleb’s idea had become more plausible. On 28 January, the inital request to the ŋations of Riyelum (then known as R̦ijeləm), Sofao Tâsi, Nošaterçe, and MápabaL was sent from Kozdenen, and all recipients were interested in pursuing the creation of a pan-Gulf organization.[4] The fourteen articles of the Union’s founding treaty were drafted and approved between 2 and 4 February 2025.
Founding and early days of the Union (4 February 2025 - 27 February 2025)
The founding treaty was signed on 4 February 2025 by the ŋations of Kozdenen, MápabaL, Nošaterçe, R̦ijeləm, and Sofao Tâsi, thus creating the Gulf Union with BaLbeL as its capital. On 7 February, invitations were sent to the governments of Enkavak, i Êpcêm Mûn-nan, Imerchal and the Kingdom of Kyaw Cen due to being nearby countries in southern Slabland with economic interests in the Gulf region. Maple of i Êpcêm Mûn-nan suggested a banner and flag inspired by the fakeworld’s flag of Greenland on 14 February[5]. Three days later, Maple’s banner design was adopted as the offical banner of the Union[6].

REST OF HISTORY SECTION WILL BE FINISHED SHORTLY
Araçana and the United Ildorgear State were each invited shortly after their respective establishments in April and June 2025.
Wekañu Skefo, a ŋation much farther north than previous members had been, applied successfully for a membership in October, again joining shortly after its founding. When Chielbary was founded by Sq, it became Following Wekañu-Skefo’s example, neighboring Ukoŋia
Politics
The workings of the union are dictated by the founding treaty.
Executive branch
The Chief Commissioner, currently Pleb, is responsible for organising meetings of and debates in the Gulf Council, which may be synchronous or asynchronous.
Legislative branch
The Gulf Council is the supreme legislative and executive authority of the Union, comprised of representatives from each of the member ŋations. It is be headed by the Chief Commissioner, currently Pleb, responsible for overseeing the general functioning of the Union, who is elected by and among the members of the Gulf Council. The laws established through the Council are binding to the member ŋations.
Commissioners
The Gulf Union has eight commissioners:
| Title | Person |
|---|---|
| Commissioner for Culture | Xhesas |
| Commissioner for Economic Planning | total pleb |
| Commissioner for Education and Research | Xhesas |
| Commissioner for Infrastructure | Marcy Sheikah |
| Commissioner for Foreign Affairs | Marcy Sheikah |
| Commissioner for Lorekeeping | Annwan |
| Commissioner for Media | Fīl |
| Commissioner for the Environment | Lily |
Membership
Any ŋation may apply to join the Union; they are admitted as a member by means of a regular vote. The Gulf Council may similarly vote to invite a ŋation into the Union, bypassing this step should they accept. A member ŋation may be forcefully ejected from the Union through the same mechanism.
A member ŋation may voluntarily withdraw from the Union at any time, providing notice of their intent to the Gulf Council.
Member states
The membership of the Gulf Union currently comprises fourteen ŋations, with the founding members having been Kozdenen, MápabaL, Nošaterçe, Ɍijeləm, and Sofao Tâsi.
