The Gulf Union (GU) is a supranational political and economic union of 13 member states established with the intent of fostering cooperation between states located around the Gulf of Kozdenen or connected waterways, comprising a transcontinental region straddling southern Slabland and northeastern Thasusa. The GHaST Network and the Gulf Cenrail Lines are managed by the Gulf Union.

Name

The Gulf Union was named after the Gulf of Kozdenen, a body of water that the original five member states were bordering.

History

The Gulf Union was founded on 4 February 2025 by the five founding members around the Gulf of Kozdenen; Kozdenen, MápabaL, Nošaterçe, R̦ijeləm, and Sofao Tâsi; when they signed the founding treaty. On 7 February 2025, invitations were sent to the governments of Enkavak, i Êpcêm Mûn-nan, Imerchal and the Kingdom of Kyaw Cen due to being nearby countries in southern Slabland with economic interests in the Gulf region, all of which accepted the invitation in the days after.

Politics

The workings of the union are dictated by the founding treaty.

Executive branch

The Chief Commissioner, currently Pleb, is responsible for organising meetings of and debates in the Gulf Council, which may be synchronous or asynchronous.

Legislative branch

The Gulf Council is the supreme legislative and executive authority of the Union, comprised of representatives from each of the member ŋations. It is be headed by the Chief Commissioner, currently Pleb, responsible for overseeing the general functioning of the Union, who is elected by and among the members of the Gulf Council. The laws established through the Council are binding to the member ŋations.

Membership

Any ŋation may apply to join the Union; they are admitted as a member by means of a regular vote. The Gulf Council may similarly vote to invite a ŋation into the Union, bypassing this step should they accept. A member ŋation may be forcefully ejected from the Union through the same mechanism.

A member ŋation may voluntarily withdraw from the Union at any time, providing notice of their intent to the Gulf Council.

The membership of the Gulf Union currently comprises 12 ŋations, with the founding members being Kozdenen, MápabaL, Nošaterçe, Ɍijeləm, and Sofao Tâsi.
