Ŋafrican Union

The Ŋafrican Union (ŊAU for short) is a continental union between the ŋations of Ŋafrica.
It formed from the nearly-abandoned relic of the Ŋafrican Association of Rail Networks, and carries on the same work. It is based on the fakeworld union of a similar name, and was formally established 1 September 2025.
History
Months previous to August 2025, Fin messaged Astaryuu saying they wished to eventually create a Ŋafrican Union, based on the Gulf Union.
On 23 August 2025, after months of inactivity on Fin's part caused not only this, but also ŊARN plans to slide, Quing Nozomi sent notice to ten other Ŋafrican ŋations that they planned on creating the Ŋafrican Union, conditional on Fin approving the idea. Hummland and Vallis Draconum responded that same day stating they were interested. In hindsight, this is reminiscent of the fakeworld Sirte Declaration, which also called the existing structure ineffective, though for security reasons rather than inactivity.
On 31 August 2025, after a discussion in which it was suggested that a new officer of the UŊOCDS should be appointed, Fin crashed out, deleted the spreadsheet, attempted to start drama over SeoReadeHenn and Hilja supposedly stealing netherite from Janus a year and a half ago, and left Nguhcraft, donating the Port of Eras to Magnvs. He was subsequently banned, for this among many other small incidents. Astaryuu, representing the probable most active remaining member of ŊARN, created a new Discord server, since Fin owned the old one and might decide to delete it instead of transferring ownership. They invited Jamie and Hummus to this new server, and it became dedicated to the Ŋafrican Union.
Effective 1 September 2025, ŊARN is considered part of the Ŋafrican Union.
On 1 October 2025, the Ŋafrican Union officially claimed the Ŋafrican Union Commission, a neutral meeting ground using an old near-enclave formed by former ŊARN Chairman Fin in Reimusia. At the same time, it also revoked its treaty regarding the rails themselves, saying they can be returned to Reimusia, and all beef over them is forgiven.
Member ŋations
Note that only representatives are listed, as any ŋation can become an observer or revoke its observership at any time.

Structure
The Ŋafrican Union takes the form of a treaty between member ŋations, intended to promote all members' economic development and security. Membership is open to any ŋation which owns territory in Ŋafrica, even though the initial call by Quing Nozomi was sent to ŋations whose territory primarily is within Ŋafrica.
Out-of-universe, this is accomplished by the people within each ŋation joining a shared Discord server.
In-universe, this is treated as the ŋation sending a representative to the Assembly of the Ŋafrican Union. The leader of the assembly is referred to as "Speaker of the Ŋafrican Union", and is selected by the rest of the house. Currently, the Speaker is Astaryuu, but the Speaker may be changed at any time for reasons including inactivity, leaving Nguhcraft, or performing activities that work against the Ŋafrican Union's goals.
Rules
On decisions
- Decisions are made using votes.
- A vote can be called for by any member at any time. Votes that affect the operation of the Ŋafrican Union as a whole are called legislative votes, all other votes are called executive votes.
- All legislative votes require that the representative calling for a vote ping all representatives, and open the poll for 24 hours to allow any timezone to have ample opportunity to see the post.
- The poll can be closed early if, even if all representatives that haven't voted vote against the favored option, it would not reach quorum. For example, if there are 7 representatives, and 5 of them say yes to a vote, then even if the other 2 vote no, the decision would be yes. In that case, the poll can be closed early with that yes answer.
- A quorum of representatives' agreement is required for a legislative vote to become a rule; abstaining from the vote is counted as a no.
- The quorum for executive votes is 50% of active representatives.
- If a legislative vote allows for multiple candidates to be selected ("multiple selection"), quorum is 50% of active representatives. Otherwise ("single selection"), the quorum is 67% of active representatives.
- The result must be STRICTLY GREATER THAN quorum, meaning that if there are 12 members, an executive vote and a legislative vote with multiple selection requires 7 yeses to pass, while a legislative vote with single selection requires 10 yeses to pass.
On economics
- All currency which is supported by 50% of Ŋafrican Union representatives are official currencies of the Ŋafrican Union. As of the vote on 20 September 2025, the Rauratoshan Kingdom's musan is the only currency that fits this requirement.
- Official currencies of the Ŋafrican Union should be accepted by all member states; this does not mean the ŋation cannot accept currencies that are not official. If needed, banks within the Ŋafrican Union can be used to make exchanges from unofficial currencies to official currencies.
On divisions
- As of 1 September 2025, the Ŋafrican Union oversees the Ŋafrican Association of Rail Networks. This organization's job is to fund, build, and maintain railways in member states.
- ŊARN-affiliated railways should comply with Gulf Union railway standards. This means:
- Tunnels should be at least 2 blocks tall.
- Railways should be double-tracked if they are interŋational transit.
- Rail tracks should have at least 1 block of space between them if they are interŋational transit.
- Signage should include the symbol for the line and the romanized name of the current station.
- Signage should include the next two stations on the line in descending order.
- ŊARN can cooperate with non-member states in its duties.
- ŊARN-affiliated railways should comply with Gulf Union railway standards. This means:
- As of 15 September 2025, the Ŋafrican Union oversees the Interŋational Network of Roads Across Ŋafrica. This organization's job is to fund, build, and maintain soulroads in member states.
- If allowed by the topography of the area, soulroads should comply with Gulf Union standards:
- Outside of cities, a road should be at least 5 blocks wide, and preferably should be 7 blocks wide.
- Soulroads should include a "shoulder"; that is, it should have at least one block between the soul soil or soul sand and the road's edge.
- Inside of cities, a road can be narrowed to 3 blocks wide.
- INORAŊ can cooperate with non-member states in its duties.
- If allowed by the topography of the area, soulroads should comply with Gulf Union standards:
Activities
For right now, the Ŋafrican Union's only major activity is continuing the work of the ŊARN. However, management of ghastports is also planned for the future, tentatively referred to as the ŊGIS (Ŋafrican Ghastport International System). Additionally, the Interŋational Network of Roads Across Ŋafrica (INORAŊ) has been created for a future soulroad network.
