Lyrcynthinia (/lɪɹsɪnˈθɪniə/), officially the Hydratic Republic of Lyrcynthinia, is a ŋation in west Archipelagia, bordered by the Evil Scamming Country, the Evil Sqamming Country, Trévandroumélisse-Frossantiquervrâssonne-d’Prévallondurévrenne-en-Mijonnâ-Tourvléssourinde-pralondure-Méllontrévresse-Vrassédrinourde, and the Hertskomestat Syndicate. It is owned by kaw57 out-of-roleplay and governed by the Hydra (the trio of characters Katherine Frost, Lyra Tide, and Cynthia Moon) in-lore.

Regions

Downtown

Downtown (/ˈdaʊ̯nˌtaʊ̯n/) is located underground in the Overworld, between Eville and Fucking. It was discovered as a result of testing for Project Moonbeam. The majority of Downers are gamurans.

Downtown is connected to Eville and Fucking by the Evil Line.

Eville

Eville (/ˈiːvɪl/, /ˈiːvəl/) is the southernmost settlement and capital of Lyrcynthinia. It features four buildings and has an awe-inspiring skyline. The majority of Evillans are felines.

Eville skyline

Eville is directly connected to the Evil Scamming Country and Downtown by the Evil Line.

Eville Underground

The Eville Underground is forbidden. Do not seek an entrance. The Eville Underground does not have a majority species, for it is a lifeless place.

Fucking

Fucking (/ˈfəkɪŋ/, /ˈfʊkɪŋ/) is the northernmost settlement of Lyrcynthinia. It is at the foot of a volcano.[1] The majority of Fuckers are kobolds.

Fucking is directly connected to Downtown and the Đoòng Sơn Cavern in Adnar by the Evil Line.

Lyrcynthine Nether Metropolitan Area

The Lyrcynthine Nether Metropolitan Area (a.k.a. Lyrcynether or the LNMA) is defined as “any Point of the Nether, both With-in and on the Roof, which corresponds to a specific Point within Lyrcynthinia’s Borders in the Overworld.” The majority of Lyrcynetherines are piglins, and all Lyrcynthine piglins are Lyrcynetherines; however, the LNMA does not get to vote, meaning piglins are not able to vote on the Minority Head of the Hydra despite being a legally-recognised minority.

Politics

Lyrcynthinia is a hydratic republic; this means it has multiple heads-of-state (currently three; it will have four after the next election) and a unicameral legislature. The heads of state are elected by the subsets of the population they represent; the legislature is then chosen by the heads.

The current heads of the hydra are Katherine Frost, representing feline voters; Lyra Tide, representing kobold voters; and Cynthia Moon, representing minority voters. The heads are in charge of both proposing and finalising ŋational decisions; the legislature is in charge of ensuring the heads’ acts are carried out. The legislature also functions as judge and jury in the ŋational courts.

Meaning of citizenship

Citizens of Lyrcynthinia who are living in Downtown, Eville, or Fucking are able to vote on the head-of-hydra that represents their demographic group. Additionally, citizens are protected against unprompted searches, are allowed to carry weapons so long as they are not concealed, and are legally required to be given lower rates for housing.

Minority citizens have extra protections, namely: penalties for attacking minority citizens are increased as compared to non-minority citizens and especially non-citizens, minority citizens’ issues have increased priority, and minority citizens are able to apply for a concealled-carry license for weapons.[2]

All citizens of unUŊ member states are automatically citizens of Lyrcynthinia. However, the priveleges of citizenship and minority citizenship only apply to citizens who are currently in Lyrcynthinia.

The ŋation’s laws apply to all residents, citizen or not. Furthermore, the Lyrcynthine government asserts its right to penalise anyone within its borders according to its own laws, regardless of their proper ŋationality.

Interŋational relations

The ŋation aligns itself with the unUŊ and is wary of or antagonistic towards all Gulf-aligned states.

Species

Standard citizenship

The following species are able to obtain a standard Lyrcynthine citizenship.

Felines

Felines are a bipedal species seeming to have evolved from an unknown species of wildcats. Felines are, on average, much shorter than humans, with an average height of roughly 1.51 meters.

A feline’s tail is usually 75% as long as they are tall and serves multiple functions, from helping with balance to expressing emotions. Their paws have 4 fingers, one of which functioning similarly to a human’s thumb; their feet have 4 toes. Their fingers and their toes have retractable claws; in social situations, they will usually be retracted — extending one’s claws is generally perceived as a threat.

Their natural fur color is in the range of light blue-gray to black with dark markings similar to that of a fakeworld leopard; these markings are difficult to see in dark-furred individuals. Their eye color usually correlates with their fur color: blue-gray felines usually have blue eyes, and black felines usually have orange eyes. However, some individuals have different eye colors than would be expected from their fur color, or expected at all; for example, a dark gray feline’s eyes would typically be a dirty orange, but one may have red eyes instead. The color of their eye describes their sclerae; they do not have irides. Their eyes are nearly perfectly circular, with pupils taking the form of vertical slits. They have a much higher rate of heterochromacy than humans.

Despite being bipedal, felines will often run on all-fours; this allows them to run much faster than humans. They are both carnivorous and fungivorous, but cannot derive any useful nutrition from plant matter; despite this, a large number of felines add plant-based ingredients to meals to enhance the flavor. They are often considered the apex predator of Lyrcynthinia’s tundra regions.

A common trend in feline culinary culture is frozen meat; this likely has its roots in the extreme cold of the tundra from which they originate. In fact, frozen meals are sometimes considered more desirable than cooked ones.

As a consequence of their thick fur, felines are unable to live in the Nether. An average feline will die from dehydration within ten minutes, should they enter the dimension.

Gamurans

Gamurans are a quadripedal species appearing to have evolved from bats. Gamurans are very short, with an average height of 0.834 meters.

They have very large wings, with each wing being about 2.75 times longer than the individual’s height. They have very short tails connected to their wings. They are also very light, with hollow bones and thin skin; these factors combine to allow flight. Their wings feature claws on the end, each of which having 3 fingers. Their legs are small and connected to their wings; their feet have 5 highly dextrous claws. They have very large ears and poor eyesight; they navigate primarily through echolocation.

Their fur is naturally dark brown to black; their wings typically do not have fur, instead showing their dark pink skin color. Their eyes are similarly brown or black; however, they often lack visible pupils. Their eye color describes their sclerae; they do not have irides. Their eyes are spherical and bulge out of their head slightly.

Gamurans sleep upside-down, with their feet grasping onto the ceiling. They are highly specialised organisms and struggle to adapt to new climates.

Gamurans are primarily fungivorous, but are able to eat meat. However, they are unable to digest plant matter at all; this is likely a result of the Downtown cave system having very little plant life.

Most of the meat in the typical gamuran diet comes from grandworms and tetrahexadecapedes. This meat is often combined with water and fungi to make invertibrate stew, which is considered a delicacy in Downer culture.

Kobolds

Kobolds are a bipedal species which evolved from dragons. They are cold-blooded, often staying away from the cold regions of the ŋation. An average kobold is approximately 2.16 meters in height, making them taller than humans on average.

Their skeletons have wingbones, despite the fact no kobold has wings; this is likely a remnant of the dragons they evolved from. Their tails are typically around 30% as long as they are tall. Their snouts are long and wide; their horns take the form of helically-bent cones and are often adorned with jewelery. They have 4-fingered claws, with one finger being on the side and functioning as a thumb. Their feet have 5 toes, 3 of which are attached to the front of the foot and 2 of which are attached to the back.

Their scales are dark, with males having more warmly-colored scales and females having more coolly-colored scales. Their horns are usually a similar color to their scales, just much lighter. Very rarely, a kobold’s claws will be a different color than their horns. Their eyes are shaped like pointed ovals, similarly to those of humans; their eyes are commonly red or orange in males, or violet or blue in females; however, other colors are also observed, and some individuals have an eye color associated with the opposite sex. The eye color describes their irides, which usually form circles despite their very thin vertical pupils; the sclerae are black in healthy individuals, with other sclera colors being indicative of illness.

Kobold blood is a vibrant orange in color, and highly conductive to magic – most kobolds are able to discharge experience very rapidly. They are also remarkably resiliant against heat; a lava bath to a kobold is said to feel similar to a sauna to a human. Kobolds have a very high spice tolerance, having a similar reaction to ghost peppers as a human would have to habanero peppers.

Kobolds are carnivorous, being unable to derive a usable quantity of nutrients from fungal or plant matter, and often finding immense difficulty in chewing and eating plant matter that hasn't been specially processed to have the consistency of meat; worth noting, however, is that many kobolds enjoy the flavor of plant- and fungus-derived foods, especially those that are spicy. Many kobolds are fishers, as that is often the most consistent way of getting nutrients; however, some kobolds take the risk of hunting hoglins in the Nether.

Minority citizenship

The following species are able to obtain a minority Lyrcynthine citizenship.

Amoguses

Main article: Amogus

Amoguses are a minority population in Lyrcynthinia. Most Lyrcynthine amoguses live in the Overworld, but there are some who live in the LNMA. They are the only asexually-reproducing species to be able to become citizens of Lyrcynthinia.

Endermen

Endermen are a tall bipedal species. An average enderman is around 50% taller than an average human. Most endermen have solid black skin and purple eyes, though there are some who have green eyes and even fewer with white skin.[4]

Endermen have dark-green blood; this is likely where the ender pearls sometimes extracted from their corpses get their color. Lyrcynthine scientists believe that this blood is what allows endermen to teleport; however, this theory is controversial interŋationally.

Water is highly toxic to endermen. Knowingly selling any water-based products to an enderman is punishable by death in Lyrcynthinia.

Lyrcynthinian endermen are found in roughly equal populations throughout each province, including the Nether and unincorporated territory.

Piglins

Piglins are a bipedal species appearing to have evolved from pigs. They are most likely warm-blooded, despite freezing to death in the Overworld. An average piglin is around the same height as an average human.

Despite presumably being mammals, piglins show no signs of sexual dimorphism.

While their diet has not been studied extensively, many piglins claim to be carnivorous. Demographically, approximately 67% of mature Lyrcynthinian piglins are hoglin-hunters, either by trade, recreationally, or as sustenance hunters.

Although they could theoretically vote for the Minority Head of the Hydra due to being minority citizens, no piglin is able to vote due to all piglins having to live in the LNMA.

Non-citizens

The following species are unable to obtain a Lyrcynthine citizenship, despite being sophonts.

Humans

Main article: w:Human

Humans are a bipedal species descended from apes. They are legally treated as tourists, regardless of the duration of their stay.

Wildlife

Downtown cave system

Grandworms

Grandworms are a very large species of earthworms. They have a diameter of roughly 10 cm when mature and a length of 20 m. Their mouths, when fully opened, are large enough to fit an adult human’s hand; do not attempt to demonstrate this, however – you will likely lose your hand. A grandworm’s mouth is covered in sharp teeth on all sides. The teeth are the only bony part of a grandworm’s body; the rest is cartilaginous at most.

While technically edible to anybody who can kill one, the flavor of their meat is foul to most species. Eating one will not cause infection or digestion issues unless the greatworm was infected in some way, however. Furthermore, boiling the meat over a live flame is often enough to cure it of any infections.

Tetrahexadecapedes

Tetrahexadecapedes are a species of arthropod with 64 legs. Their bodies are split into 34 components, 32 of which having two legs each. The other two, the head and tail segments, instead have antennae; the head additionally has very large pinsirs with which tetrahexadecapedes attack their prey. They are very large, with a typical specimen measuring about 9.5 m in length.

They are both predator and prey to grandworms. Their meat is described as “highly desirable” by most gamurans; however, it is not fit for consumption by species not native to the Downtown cave system.

Trimerii

Trimerii are a species of trilobite found exclusively in the Downtown cave system. Their shells are rich in calcium. A mature trimerus is around 0.8 meters long and 0.5 meters across.

Trimerii are not edible to species who have not adapted to eat them, such as grandworms and gamurans.

Nether

Ghasts

Ghasts are a flying, nonapodal species, likely related to happy ghasts. Unlike their friendly counterparts, ghasts are hostile towards intelligent lifeforms. They are capable of producing and firing fireballs; however, if a ghast is hit by such a fireball, it is all but guaranteed to die.

While they do not have any edible parts, their tears seem to have regenerative properties – when distilled into an awkward potion, a ghast’s tear will produce a potion of regeneration.

Hoglins

Hoglins are a quadripedal species seeming to be related to piglins. Similar to piglins, they are probably warm-blooded yet freeze to death in the Overworld.

Compared to piglins, hoglins demonstrate much more aggressive behavior when undead. Many Lyrcynthine scientists attribute this to the relative size of their brains; this theory is controversial even within Lyrcynthinia, however.

Their meat is very similar to that of a typical swine; it has much of the same flavor and texture. However, they are much larger than typical swines, making them a much more desirable source of food. Despite being indigenous to the Nether, hoglin meat does not pose any risks to non-Nether life that pig meat doesn’t.

Hoglins flee from warped fungi and Nether portals. The reason for this behavior is unknown.

Tundra

Flinxes

Main article: [Snow Flinx]

Flinxes are a very rotund bipedal species with thick fur coats. Their fur grows back very quickly when cut, making it difficult for flinxes to survive in hot climates.

Their fur is very soft and highly sought after by clothiers and furniture manufacturers alike. Flinx fur clothing is most popular among kobolds seeking to live in the tundra, or at least stay for an extended period of time. Flinx fur bedding is a very common choice in Eville.

Some of Eville’s upper class keep flinxes as pets; however, due to flinx domestication being a relatively recent phenomenon, many civilians do not know flinxes can be pets.

Ramlings

Ramlings are a large, very strong species closely related to goats. They ram potential predators in self-defense.

Their meat is highly sought after by Evillans. Historically, they were hunted without weaponry, causing hunts to be much riskier than they are now; after the invention of the spear, these hunts came to have far fewer casualties.

Volcano

Known government projects

Project Moonbeam

Project Moonbeam was a weapon-of-mass-destruction, intended to deter any potential attackers. The Lyrcynthinian government had explicitly stated that Moonbeam will not be used in war unless another ŋation uses or attempts to use a superweapon against Lyrcynthinia.

However, during its testing phase, the Lyrcynthine government became horrified with its power; afterwards, it vowed to never use it and decommissioned the project.

W.R.A.T.H.

W.R.A.T.H. is intended as a way to protect against superweapons, intending to destroy incoming attacks and coat the fragments in water to lessen their impact.

  2. Most applications are rejected as you need a really, really good reason for it, but all applications from non-minority citizens and non-citizens are automatically rejected
  3. worth noting is that, despite Lyrcynthinia's name being obviously inspired by </oorp>, all of these rating are </rp>; oorp i think every ŋation is awesome
  4. This is referencing an old bug in Minecraft where endermen who spawned near bedrock would have inverted colors due to a bug with bedrock fog; as bedrock fog has since been removed, this bug no longer occurs.
