Kozdenen (Kozramva:   Keezhʉ Thinaa ['kø:ʐɨ ci'na:]), officially the Republic of Kozdenen (Kozramva:    Keezhʉ Thinaa Thakkʉezhouvaga [kø̞:ʐɨ cina: ʈak:ɨø̞ʐo̞uβaɣa]), is an island nation located in the northeastern corner of its namesake, the Gulf of Kozdenen. It shares maritime borders with Riyelum, MápabaL, the Moshpit Territory, Enkavak's Gulf territory, the Kingdom of Kyaw Cen (Monke Island), and Sofao Tâsi; its ownership of the Blighted Shrine gives further maritime borders with Pua, Tauranga Puawai, Regnate Latium, and the Condominium of Chaos. It is comprised of two islands: the island of Kozdenen, comprising most of the country's land area, and the smaller island of Savdenen. It is one of the oldest member states of the United Ŋations and a founding member of the Gulf Union.

The first settlement in what is now Kozdenen was a small camp on the east coast of Savdenen, established by Pleb on 18 January 2024. By 2 February, an agrarian economy was established on the island. The Republic of Kozdenen was proclaimed on 5 February 2024, joining the post-Raid world order.

History

January 2024

On 18 January 2024, Peleṽa claimed what would become the core territory of Kozdenen, establishing a camp on the east coast of Savdenen.

February 2024

On 2 February 2024, the farmhouse and barn in Lagdenen were completed, kickstarting the country's agricultural sector. The banner of Kozdenen was also officialised on this day.

On 5 February 2024, the Republic of Kozdenen was proclaimed.

On 9 February 2024, Kozdenen's first significant infrastructure project - the Great Kozdenen Viaduct - was constructed, spanning the entirety of the country and connecting it to the mainland along a north-south axis.

On 18 February 2024, the country's Cenrail station was opened to passengers to and from Imerchal on what would later become the Transversal line, with an extension of the line to Enkavak quickly following.

On 22 February 2024, the Koz storage area was established.

On 29 February 2024, the bridge between Savdenen and the Koz mainland was constructed. Owing to the country's agricultural development, Kozdenen began offering foreign aid, a program which would be referred to as KozAid.

March 2024

On 1 March 2024, following the terraforming of much of Kozdenen, the construction of the country's road network began.

On 2 March 2024, a connection between the Great Kozdenen Viaduct and Vee's Base on what would become the Central line was completed and opened, enabling travel to and from Kozdenen in all four cardinal directions.

On 3 March 2024, the KozTram network was completed.

On 28 March 2024, the term Kêji architecture was coined to refer to the architecture of Kozdenen.

On 31 March 2024, Peleṽa finished the construction of the Palace of the Ŋations.

April 2024

On 1 April 2024, Kozdenen threatened intervention against Ximh Gwynh as part of an informal interŋational coalition in response to Gweng's plot to deforest every cherry biome to assert a monopoly over cherry wood after the Nguhcraft Spring. Also, the KozTram network was discontinued and demolished.

On 4 April 2024, the Kozdenen mob tower had begun construction, with the functional elements being completed.

On 8 April 2024, the post office was completed and opened.

On 21 April 2024, the exterior of the mob tower was completed, as were the walls of the warehouse.

On 24 April 2024, construction of the Palace of the Grand Boule began.

On 28 April 2024, the first row of embassy buildings was completed, reserved for Kyaw Cen, Þunan Qumreá, Imerchal, Enkavak, Xarslasja, Hentzo, and Hummland.

On 30 April 2024, Kozdenen supported Þunan Qumreá's annexation of Pais Transanguino Ranitino in the aftermath of the Great Heist.

May 2024

On 2 May 2025, Peleṽa installed median strips of grass in Kozdenen's main roads and placed new lighting. The use of copious amounts of hoppers in these lampposts would spur early comments on Kozdenen being laggy and ultimately prompt Ætérnal to add decorative hoppers to the server mod.

On 7 May 2024, Peleṽa claimed an ocean monument in the Amujan Sea as the Blighted Shrine protectorate for the purpose of converting it into a Guardian farm and potentially transferring it to UŊ administration at a later date. While Peleṽa was assisting in the construction of a railway line between the City State of Amuj proper and its colony of Mawg (later part of the Aquatic line), it had been discovered that the planned route ran directly underneath an Ocean Monument - within the Amujan Sea - when its resident Elder Guardians induced mining fatigue on the Doge at a rate which drinking milk could not sufficiently catch up with. In retalliation, Thoa-Saevakki stormed the monument and slew its Elder Guardians before claiming the monument.

On 15 May 2024, the Blighted Shrine Guardian farm was completed, with a Cenrail station opened underneath it later that day.

On 18 May 2024, the Big Embassies Battle was announced, as was the development of a Koz currency, the Kaema. This competition would definitely happen and not be forgotten about.

On 24 May 2024, Peleṽa was elected as an officer of UŊESCO.

On 26 May 2024, the Kozdenen iron farm was completed and opened. From here on, iron would become Kozdenen's biggest export.

On 30 May 2024, the remaining embassy buildings were constructed, reserved for Amuj, Aylongam, Dhourigkàn, Fishland, I Êpcêm Mûn-nan, and Myžariky.

June 2024

On 9 June 2024, the Pegasus tower in the centre of Peleṽa Plaza was completed. Incorporated into the tower was a villager breeder. Furthermore, the exterior of the Palace of the Grand Boule was also completed.

On 13 June 2024, the exterior of the Bank of Kozdenen was completed.

On 15 June 2024, a bridge across the northern strait to R̦ijeləm was constructed.

On 20 June 2024, the Kozdenen Metro was completed and opened to the public, replacing the decommissioned KozTram network.

Somehow, this didn't trigger a second Chickenpocalypse.

On 23 June 2024, Peleṽa solved the issue of long-term food insecurity through questionable adherence to ethical standards.

July 2024

On 27 July 2024, the corner towers around Peleṽa Plaza were constructed.

On 28 July 2024, a road was built between Kozdenen and Alnangaemak. This road would later be designated as the G5 highway under the GHaST Network schema.

August 2024

On 7 August 2024, the rules for the Big Embassies Battle were announced. This competition would definitely happen and not be forgotten about.

On 12 August 2024, construction of a row of shops began along Commerce Street.

September 2024

On 14 September 2024, after apparently forgetting Nguhcraft existed for a while, Peleṽa kinda returns and gets caught up on everything.

On 19 September 2024, the deadline for the Big Embassies Battle is delayed. Don't worry, this competition would definitely still happen and not be forgotten about.

October 2024

On 20 October 2024, Peleṽa once again becomes more active on Nguhcraft after having apparently forgotten about it again. More Big Embassies Battle delays.

November 2024

On 2 November 2024, despite forgetting to actually create a submission to participate, Peleṽa assisted in the hosting of the Nguhrovision Song Contest 2024.

On 10 November 2024, following confirmation that the Big Embassies Battle had in fact been forgotten about, Overly-Oblivious Personality Syndrome was officially classified as a medical condition (under its now-obsolete name plebmentia), with Peleṽa considered patient zero for this condition.

December 2024

On 28 December 2024, the Kaema was officially launched.

January 2025

On 5 January 2025, construction work began for the Gulf Arena.

On 12 January 2025, the underground section of Kozdenen station was expanded, with two new platforms constructed for the Balkan line extension (later the Olympic line) and a shuttle service for the Gulf Arena.

On 13 January, Peleṽa assisted the Casual Mitosis Collective in establishing the CMCic Federation during the Congress of Vieŋŋə, as an attempt to mitigate internal conflict between their hedmates which had contributed to constant fracturing and reunification of their previous states.

On 16 January 2025, the Balkan line extension between Fishland and Kozdenen was completed and opened, with a northbound extension shortly following.

On 23 January 2025, the exterior of the Gulf Arena was constructed.

On 24 January 2025, proper housing was built for Kozdenen station's Leshrail platforms.

On 28 January 2025, Peleṽa formally proposed what would become the Gulf Union to its remaining founding members.

February 2025

On 4 February 2025, the Gulf Union was founded by Kozdenen, MápabaL, Nošaterçe, R̦ijeləm, and Sofao Tâsi.

On 5 February 2025, the first row of shops on Commerce Street was completed after months of delays.

On 7 February 2025, the CMCxplosion happened, causing Peleṽa to just about crash out.

March 2025

On 1 March 2025, Kozdenen opened up to business applications, now that the shops on Commerce Street were ready.

On 3 March 2025, the Kozdenen Item Exchange opened.

On 8 March 2025, the Be Gay Do Crime Initiative was announced, wherein anybody could build graffiti in the neglected liminal spaces around the Great Kozdenen Viaduct.

On 10 March 2025, a third bridge was constructed connecting the west end of the country to the Slabland mainland.

On 11 March 2025, a honey farm was built.

On 14 March 2025, Nostalgiabricks' serial burglary was discovered to have targeted the Koz warehouse; all valuables were taken, including all diamonds and ancient debris. Furthermore, the Cenrail station had been griefed, with a magenta wool column and a break-in being used due to him not knowing where the entrance was. Stairs were also dug into the internal walls of the station and the ticket office. Peleṽa subsequently claimed Dagalunt as a protectorate for the purpose of establishing the Ŋorld's Fair on its corpse, applications for which were opened the following day.

April 2025

On 9 April 2025, Peleṽa assisted Agamashuya I in the Battle of Tucson, personally engaging in combat with Gu Sabah. Peleṽa was recalled by the Grand Boule to address accusations of manslaughter of non-combatants and destruction of civilian infrastructure. Following a public statement on the matter denying the allegations, the Blighted Shrine Cenrail station was expanded to incorporate the Forest line.

On 12 April 2025, Camel Road rest stops were built at each border crossing.

On 16 April 2025, new housing was built along Bath Street and Alnangaemak Street.

May 2025

On 1 May 2025, the Ŋorld Fair station was expanded to include Northern line platforms.

On 12 May 2025, Kozdenen's warehouse and bee farm were griefed by Taiki in the second phase of the Great Tantrum.

On 13 May 2025, the post office was expanded to account for the boom in server membership as a result of the publication of Agma Schwa's Nguhcraft - A Brief Introduction.

Geography

The bulk of Kozdenen proper is comprised of Forest biomes, and was historically host to hilly terrain. However, the island has been converted into a flat Plains-like landscape as a result of extensive deforestation and other terraforming activities to clear space for continued urbanisation. A small stretch spanning the southeastern coastal region is Taiga.

Politics

Kozdenen is a constitutional republic, with the Supreme Law as the basic governing document. Uniquely, the Supreme Law contains not only constitutional articles, but also the entire corpus of Koz law, including local ordinances relating to particular wards and territories. Though its political system contains limited democratic elements, the country itself is not a democracy, with popular representation remaining indirect, subject to the whims of the existing political class. Central to Kozdenen's political system are the Doge (head of state and government) and Grand Boule (chief legislative body). The permanent seat of government is the Palace of the Grand boule, in Savdenen ward.

Grand Boule

The Grand Boule of Kozdenen is the country's supreme legislative body, and is bicameral in nature, comprised of the Common Council (lower house) and Signory (upper house). The Grand Boule has the power to draft and approve the country's legislation, although in practice legislative initiative is left as the Presidium's prerogative under normal circumstances. Upon approval from both houses of the Grand Boule, legislation officially has the force of law.

The Common Council is a democratic body comprised of 36 members elected for a six-month term, 27 of which are directly elected in a singular at-large national consistency, with the remaining 9 being appointed by the winning party. Upon the opening of a vacancy prior to a regular election, the departing candidates party substitutes another candidate from their party list from the previous election. The Common Council is chaired by the Speaker of the Common Council, who is selected by and from the membership at the start of each parliamentary session.

The membership of the Signory is comprised of 26 elected representatives, two from each of the country's officially recognised labour collectives. Membership of the Signory is for life, with a position becoming vacant upon death or retirement. Upon the opening of a vacancy, members of the labour collective concerned nominate a slate of three candidates per vacancy (usually only one) to be considered by the remainder of the Signory's membership, who make the final decision on which candidate(s) to admit into their ranks. The Signory is chaired by the Doge of Kozdenen, and is considered to be in perpetual session.

Executive and judiciary

The chief executive body is the Presidium of the Republic of Kozdenen, also known as the Hand of the Doge. This body is comprised of 5 members, appointed and headed by - and including - the Doge. Members are selected from the Signory, and are responsible for various aspects of the country's governance. Though this is not stated in law, it is typical for the Presidium to wield legislative initiative, drafting legislation for the remainder of the Grand Boule to approve. The Presidium serves not only as the country's primary executive body, but as its chief judiciary body, serving as a council of magistrates in court cases.

The position of Doge is filled through an internal election among the Signory, who also reserve the right to file motions of no confidence against either the Doge or other members of the Presidium with a straight majority. The Doge serves as chair of both the Signory in general and the Presidium in particular.

Elections

All elections in Kozdenen are conducted using the Borda count, returning one or more candidates as required by any given vote. Ties are broken in favour of the candidate with the highest number of first-choice votes; if a tie remains after this, then the number of second-choice votes is considered, and so on.

Economy

Kozdenen has a primarily industrial state capitalist economy with low levels of corruption, one of the largest economies in the Gulf Union, of which the country is a founding member. Iron accounts for the vast majority of Kozdenen's exports, with trade relations involving iron established with most of the Ŋearth, to the point where the country is considered by some observers to be a "ferrostate". Other major exports are clay and smelted goods. The Blighted Shrine territory accounts for a portion of global prismarine production, with Maraśa being a significant trading partner on this front.
