History

Pre-History

Within Xarslasja's current borders, there are two settlements that generated naturally: the sites of Yuma and Flagstaff. Sun City West is located just across the Verde River from a natural village now in Pua's control - once called the "Free City of Deming," and later renamed "Sun City."

During the early days of the world, the area that would become Xarslasja was largely left alone. In Wool Park, Yuma, you can see one protected piece of white wool, which represents perhaps the only evidence of a player interacting with the landscape before Agma Schwa arrived.

Near the current site of Nothing, an old base, attributed to Gweng, existed on top of a butte. It was apparently taken apart well before The Raid, according to Gweng.

Some areas in Coconino County seem suspiciously flat, as if the spaces were leveled manually. This has not been proven, though there are some caves nearby that had torches in them by the time Agma Schwa explored the area.

In Mohave County, the famous sites of the "Burnt House" and the "Dwarven Mines" can be found in Ashton.

Additionally, the foundations for a base attributed to "Tach3on" can be found in western Santa Cruz County. It is unknown who Tach3on was, but, nevertheless, the site has been protected.

Pre-UNg Period

After The Raid led to the destruction of Phoeŋix, Nguhtropolis, and much of the infrastructure of the Old Kingdom, the prior political order of the server had been reduced to nothing. In the months following November 2023, several new villages began to emerge closer to the Spawn.

Agma Schwa continued living in the ruins of the Old Kingdom’s Five-Village Network until January of 2024, when he decided to migrate to a desert south of the Spawn. This desert hosted a seemingly-uncontacted village, which was named “Yuɱa,” after the city in the real-world state of Arizona.

In late January, a Cenrail extension was built to Yuɱa.

In February, construction began on the town of Blythe on the other side of the Colorado River, centered around the old Port Authority of Yuɱa. With multiple towns under construction, the region was dubbed “Xarslasja” (Arodjun for “Great Desert Land”) and the land declared intent on joining the United ŋations.

In March, construction began on the cities of Tempe, Quartzsite, and Payson. These cities and town make up "Core Xarslasja" or "Mainland Xarslasja," though technically Blythe is on the west side of the Colorado River.

In late March 2024, the Great Desert Bank opened, allowing for Xarslasja to make transactions in Slabs for the first time.

On April 1st, 2024, the Yuɱa Post Office was remodeled to follow the standards of Annwan's Mail Route. The Xarslasja Port Authority was also re-opened with the construction of the Port Authority Tower in Blythe.

Expansion Period

On April 2nd, 2024, Xarslasja was admitted into the United Ŋations by a unanimous 6-0 vote. That day, the tentative plan for the Yuɱa Exchange Rate Commission was announced and grounds were broken for its construction.

Through early April 2024, significant infrastructure was constructed, including a full reconstruction and expansion of the Yuɱa CenRail Station and the creation of the Core Xarslasja Line System.

In late April 2024, the strange village of Needle Rock was opened near the future site of Arcosanti, and Bezuv Agma Schwa's "ŋursery" from the previous Minecraft world was imported to Blythe by the witchcraft of Ætérnal.

Xarslasja entered a state of Recession on June 10th, 2024 due low a lack of banking transaction regulation and no system in place to make bank loans, after Elisa of Fishland put in an order for a whopping 100 slabs by sending 32 stacks of gold blocks to the Great Desert Bank. The vault of the entire nation of Xarslasja only contained 1 slab. The Bank exchanged one slab for one stack of gold blocks and returned the remaining stacks. Instantly insolvent, the Bezuv forced the temporary closure of the Bank and Exchange Commission until the vault is restored and a bank loan system in place.

After recuperating funds and changing transaction laws, the Bank quietly reopened on July 14th, 2024 with a transaction limit of 2 Slabs and a ban on mineral transactions.

In July 2024, The Bezuv made a deal with Quing Marcy I of Kyaw Cen to share a plot of land known as Ŋibraltar, officially the "Territory of Ŋibraltar." This was done to augment economic ties with the maritime power and to express friendship between the two governments. Construction of Ŋibraltar was done by Kyaw Cen, though a rail line is planned to be split fro the Quartzsite Line Station to reach it and suburbs around it are likely to be built.

The borders of Xarslasja were expanded to fill in previously unclaimed space between Þunan Qumreá and Nāroňpār in July 2024. A month later, Xarslasja's Operation: Mingling created a network of roads to every corner of the nation, including to several international borders.

Consolidation Period

In August of 2024, the western nation of Murbetia formally disbanded, leaving what was the largest land claim in the world a power vacuum. Nearly instantly, several nations moved in. During this event, known as the Scramble for Murbetia, Coldba became the primary beneficiary, claiming about 90% of Murbetia's main landmass. Xarslasja, in an attempt to expand its trade horizons and oceanic influence, purchased two islands off the north and east coasts of Murbetia for a grand total of One Slab (an act which was significant, since the land grabs earlier in the day had been officialized for free). These islands were named Bar Harbor and Far Harbor, and put under the direct authority of the Bezuv's son, Gu Sabah as head of the Xarslasja Port Authority. One island turned out to be claimed by West Pua, so negotiations on the eastern island began. The dispute was resolved within two days. Kate of Coldba remunerated the Bezuv for the false purchase of Bar Harbor. In exchange, Xar Harbor was purchased. Bar Harbor was retaken by West Pua for roughly 12 hours before a deal was struck for Xarslasja to gain official control of the land on Bar Harbor, in exchange for the handing over of the island of Peoria, located north of Arcosanti.

September 2024 saw the incorporation of Graham County and Greenlee County, with their county seats being in Sun City West and Greer, respectively. West Pua built an embassy to Xarslasja in Tempe, shortly before the Bezuv struck a deal with Skrungk to complete the CenRail tunnel from Allium to Flagstaff. East Pua made the Blue River fully navigable, allowing for unfettered naval travel between Xarslasja and the Sea of Fortune near Aylongam. Additionally, the Xarslasja Port Authority vastly expanded its power in late August and early September, with La Paz County coming under the full control of Gu Sabah. The construction of the Ləŋdəŋ Bridge created the first land transit link to a piece of La Paz County, connecting Coconino County to Havasu Island. The Shea Island Naval Complex was also completed, and this quickly became the main headquarters for the XPA despite it being located in Gila County, rather than La Paz.

In October 2024, Gu Sabah laid seige to Arcosanti in an effort to overthrow his father, in an event known as the Coup Sabah. This set international relations into a tailspin, with several nations aligning explicitly with Gu Sabah, even those with embassies already constructed. A counter-seige was brought upon the Shea Island Naval Complex by the East Puan Navy, supported by the Republic of Shudrow in what the alliance called "Operation Bezuv Shield." With resources running out and the Nguhrovision Song Contest rapidly approaching, both sides began to move to finish this conflict ass quickly as possible.

Internal Strife

After weeks of the country struggling with the Coup Sabah, the Legislature held the controversial votes of The Emergency Sessions, which led to Coconino County offering safe harbor to Gu Sabah and his supporters. A series of brutal battles on Shea Island, Arcosanti, Havasu Island, and finally the devastating Battle of Flagstaff, the Legislative Authority and a multi-national coalition of allies was victorious. Gu Sabah and his supporters largely retreated to the islands of La Paz County and to Tucson. The government of Coconino County continued to be in a state of insubordinance, and as such the XLA set up plans for an occupation of the county until the rebels had been arrested (see Gu Sabah Insurgency).

Two public parks were opened to memorialize the conflict: Memorial Park in Flagstaff at the site of the crater from the most brutal fighting, and Griddy Park in Blythe where the original Blythe Port Authority Building was bombed on October 24th and the Master Gridmaker of Core Xarslasja, "Mr. Griddy," was indiscriminately killed in the blast.

On November 1st, the Bezuv signed a treaty with Þunan Qumreá converting the islands of Crown King (Fobuv) into a jointly-ruled condominium in order to create a more close military and economic relation with the nation, as they were a pivotal ally to Agamashuya I in the conflict and provided significant humanitarian aid.

On November 3rd, Xarslasja had a unifying moment when the nation's star musician, The Velar Nasal, earned the Bronze Medal in the 2024 Nguhrovision Song Contest.

Meanwhile, the Gu Sabah Insurgency continued as Tucson and all of La Paz County (except for Havasu Island) remained under the control of Gu Sabah and the Xarslasja Port Authority. The entity of the XPA was abolished by the Legislature and the use of its flag was declared illegal.

In December 2024, despite having not reclaimed Tucson or La Paz County, Xarslasja began to move on with business as usual. The Bezuv announced the Thasusa By Land Initiative to create horse-navigable roads throughout the continent, with several nations signing on. The Copper Palace was rebuilt using humanitarian aid materials, and Arcosanti was repopulated. New buildings were constructed in Xarslasja, and the Great Desert Bank was torn down, reconstructed, and combined with the Yuma Exchange Rate Commission. The new structure had the capacity to quickly update item pricing and sell and buy items in both Slabs (POS) and the Puan Unity Argent. New homes were built east of Yuma Station, leading to the real possibility that the metro areas of Yuma and Tempe could combine into a single desert megalopolis. In response, on December 12th, 2024, official city limits were drawn for Tucson and Yuma and a new, buffer city was announced - Oracle.

2025 began with Xarslasja largely stable, other than the segment of Coconino County and La Paz County that were still considered to be under active insurgency. Major road construction activity began in Xarslasja's goal to become a hub for the Thasusa By Land Initiative. Szlanty successfully extended the main roads of Naronpar to finally connect to northeastern Xarslasja in mid-January. In response, a bridge was built over the Salt River to fully link the two nations' road networks. Soon after, several new roads and bridges were constructed to connect Xarslasja to both East and West Pua. After pro-government Xarslasjan forces attempted to build a bridge to West Pua in Tucson, a battle between XPA and XLA forces ensued. As such, the bridge was built outside of Tucson's city limits.

Meanwhile, environmental concerns continued to grow in Core Xarslasja, especially about the shrinking of the desert biome with the expansion of the city and the continuing Greenification. An ecological study indeed found that the Xarslasja Dead Shrub (which is, in fact, dormant, not dead) and the Xarslasja Cactus were both endangered. In response, Oracle declared Greenification illegal in its city limits, and several counties quickly filed complaints to the Legislature. The Xarslasja Legislature voted to declare the Xarslasja Dead Shrub and the Xarslasja Cactus protected species. Dead Shrubs were thus legally required to be harvested with shears and collected for replanting. Another vote announced the beginning of a process of creating designated National Forests where no industrial or residential construction could take place on the surface, inspired by the Cave Creek National Recreation Area. Mapping of the National Forests began soon after.

Transit Revolution and Further Internal Conflict

The Thasusa By Land Initiative continued to pick up steam as new roads and bridges continued to be built and existing roads were modified to fit the standards of the initiative. At the same time, preparations for the 2025 Kozdenen Nguhlympics were underway throughout the world. Xarslasja's Jomax Stadium was to be the site of the opening ceremonies. Thus, the industrial site of Anthem ramped up its development of the Anthem Grand Hotel, a local rail link to the Core Xarslasja Line, and more. A revamp of the existing Yuma Station and other stations and local lines was in full force, including a connection of the Nogales-Arcosanti Line to Sedona. It was then announced by employees of CenRail that a specialized "Olympic Line" would be constructed between important stadium sites, and there was a location on Cottonwood Island where two rail lines already intersected and thus would be a great location for the Olympic Line to also cross. Thus began what would surely become the most complicated rail station in Xarslasja: Ash Fork Station. By the time it was completed in mid-February 2025, Ash Fork was a major rail intersection in the world, linking the Southern Loop, the Western Line, the Olympic Line, and the local Nguhlympic Line.

The Olympic Line passed directly under Sedona, and as such a CenRail Station was built in Sedona as well. This one was notable for being built in the mouth of a natural cave.

In an effort to improve transit efficiency, slabs began to be installed on paved roads, ending the need for jumping while navigating major intersections.

On April 9th, 2025, the Xarslasja Terrestrial Army, in cooperation with military assets from the Navy of Imerchal, the Kingdom of Kyaw Cen, and Hummland, began a second siege around the self-blockaded city of Tucson, in an effort to liberate Gu Sabah's largest stronghold in Coconino County. Gu Sabah took notice of this, and quickly bolstered defenses of the city and developed fortifications on the Puan side of the Oak River. The XPA and XTA built TNT cannons facing each other. The XPA planted landmines throughout the hillsides around Tucson, and both armies planted walls of spiky berry bushes to slow enemy progression.

Imerchal stationed 13 ships along the west coast of Coconino, across from the Puan-claimed isthmus. Civilian villagers in Tucson were mostly evacuated to Flagstaff or Naco for their safety. The Battle of Tucson soon followed, resulting in a decisive loss for the out-gunned XPA. As it turned out, Gu Sabah himself was present in Tucson at the time, and retreated to one of several underground tunnels. Essentially unguarded, the island of Bar Harbor was surrounded by the Xarslasja Royal Navy.

In May 2025, the Bezuv announced the Gu Sabah KILLFEST, where Gu Sabah was taken from his original prison cell to Central Yard in Yuma and repeatedly killed for head collection by the general public, leading up to a final execution toward the end of the month.

From June through August 2025, the vast majority of the national construction team was redirected to Pua, Pihi, and Aylongam to complete the Thasusa By Land infrastructure. By early August, the P21, P20, P10, and P28 were completed within Puan territory.

The Bezuv announced Phase 2 of the Xarslasja Transit Revolution in late September 2025, which began with the underground groundbreaking of a new central subway station in Yuma linking the Yuma CenRail to the Yuma Nexus.

Reintegration, Thunan Qumrea Annexation, Thasusan Union and Continued Transit Revolution

The construction of the new Yuma Nexus was interrupted by a series of political events. First, the reserved lands of Þunan Qumreá were opened up to annexation by existing countries after the persistence of its anarchic “Warlords Period.” Xarslasja became a major beneficiary of this, acquiring a massive swath of territory. At the same time, the Xarslasja Legislature confirmed its plans to conduct a new census and reintegrate the vacant legislative seats from the formerly rebellious Coconino County and La Paz County. The Thasusan Union, a new multinational regulatory and economic organization, was rapidly growing as well. Late October also marked the one-year anniversary of the attack on the Copper Palace. As such, the Bezuv declared a month-long Copper Festival.

The Reintegration Sessions began in the legislature on October 29th, 2025. These controversial votes discussed major aspects of the functioning of the government, complicated by the addition of enough territory and population to create two new counties. The result of this was a convoluted deal wherein the formerly rebellious counties were reintegrated into the government with representatives handpicked by the Legislature. Additionally, pending the completion of the ongoing Census, two new counties would be created in the Tunnan Military District and new seats would be added to existing counties with significantly increased populations. Thus began the Census Rush, a wave of unauthorized construction projects to boost the population and economic importance of rural counties in order to gain additional representation in the Legislature.

Incorporation and the Hacking Plague

As New Years Day, 2026 approached, preparations began in the houses of government for the official incorporation of two new counties carved out of the Tunnan Military District - Cochise County and Mohave County, along with the reapportionment of the seats of the Xarslasja Legislature. Not much word had come from the Bezuv through much of December, partially due to a time anomaly that somehow caused reality to shift nearly a week into the future instantaneously. Even after this, no news came from the Copper Palace despite the important upcoming incorporation. On December 27th, a member of the Pima County Filibuster returned to her home to gather resources for the budding village of Tunnan. Upon arriving in Arcosanti, there was nobody there. Every villager in Arcosanti had died and despawned. After word got out, reporters flooded the entrance of the Copper Palace to see the Bezuv, but he refused to answer the door, only shouting “I’m fine!” from the high tower of the palace. Rumors began to spread that the Bezuv had caught whatever disease killed the population of Arcosanti.

On December 30th, popular Xarslasjan musician The Velar Nasal released his submission for the Nguhrovision Song Contest 2025, a synthpop rendition of the Hymn of Xarslasja titled “Piperx djIdarx,” or “Brave Sands” in English.

On January 1st, despite the Bezuv being missing, procedures continued for the incorporation of the two new counties.

Two months passed, and the office of the Bezuv still did not allow visitors or questions. Meanwhile, Mohave County and Cochise County were incorporated into the nation, though new physical seats had not been added in the legislature and the local filibusters and the XTA remained the de facto authorities.

The Legislature approved funding for the completion of the new Yuma Nexus and the construction of new stations and two-lane railways connecting Yuma to Ashton to better incorporate the new territories. This was called Operation: Usable Transit.

Afte being authorized by House Speaker Jodai Wemmi to investigate the Copper Palace, Akuv Ngu (Slave to Creativity) broke in and found that Agamashuya I had indeed fallen victim to the Hacking Plague. A transitional government was immediately declared by Ngu and Wemmi while a solution was figured out.

Transitional Government and County Autonomy

Under the transitional government of Jodai Wemmi and Ngu, the redesign of the legislature's interior was improved and the local rail line revamp project continued at full steam. The Core Xarslasja Line was made two-lane and connected with Tunnan and Ashton with new stations. The revamp of the Nogales-Arcosanti Line began shortly after, with high-speed lines from Yuma Nexus to Sun City West and to Bar Harbor were planned out. A quartz monument to Agamashuya I was erected in North Yuma and black banners were placed in public spaces around the nation to mourn his death.

Meanwhile, counties continued to express further autonomy. This brought to a head the "Greater Pua Movement" in the southern counties. In Santa Cruz County, the unclear border between Xarslasja and Pua and the lack of federal unity led Sjantakruzzunou to try and stake the borderline shown on some maps that gave their county the largest land area. The Puan government began to push back, building up its military around the Santa Cruz County area. Jodai Wemmi, sensing the decaying vision of legitimacy of the central government under a Speaker rather than a Bezuv, put together proposals to create a Xarslasja "Ghast Corp" to create air superiority and to protect the country's seven ghastports, and to give the XTA authority to put down "construction projects" enacted by counties without legislative approval. Santa Cruz County officials in Nogales had already begun demolishing the Nogales-Arcosanti Line station in preparation for the two-lane update. This was done ahead of schedule, and thus transit between Nogales and the rest of Xarslasja was affectively cut off. Citizens from Nogales began camping near the "Pirate's Cove" at Hayden's Ferry, which had previously been used as a hideaway for Gu Sabah supporters.

on March 18th, the Puan military presence significantly ramped up in the Djobom Sea around Nogales and Hayden's Ferry. Pua, a member of the Thasusan Union and South Thasusan Common Market Agreement and coalition partner with the central government of Xarslasja, sent an envoy to the Xarslasja Legislature to warn the government in Yuma about the unruly behavior of the Sjantakruzzunou. The following day, Pua launched Operation Santa Slay, kicking the Santa Cruz Crisis into high gear. This set off a convoluted series of international reactions that spiraled quickly.

After weeks of tumultuous sessions of the Legislature, Jodai Wemmi was removed from office and Akuv Ngu became the official head of government. The head of state was reverted to the dead Agamashuya I, creating a de jure necrocracy. Protests broke out nationwide as legislators and local leaders refused to acknowledge the federal government. All the while, Pua's Navy continued its encroachment.

In April 2026, Akuv Ngu and Dmacixuv Sjarm Adax proposed a land swamp deal with Pua: cede Puoria to Xarslasja and cede eastern Santa Cruz County to Pua. Adax attempted to make a show of strength by creating a naval blockade of Puoria, which eventually expanded to a blockade of the entirety of Scarecrow Harbor. The larger blockade, however, went unenforced in reality. The government quickly built a military prison in Eager, called Schwa-shank Military Prison. It was intended to house captured Puans and, eventually, Jodai Wemmi; but instead political prisoners were sent to the island prison.

On May 1st, Akuv Ngu embarked on a "goodwill tour" of the military-run counties. This ended in tragedy as a riot broke out during his visit to the Flagstaff Ghastport on May 4th. There, protesters broke through the military guard and trampled Akuv Ngu into oblivion. From then, Dmacixuv of the XRN Sjarm Adax became the closest thing to a head of government. With the Legislature suspended and a dead Bezuv, there was little claim to authority in Xarslasja at the federal level. With that, Pua encroached further.
