Xarslasja ([ˈxaɾˌɬa.sʲə]), officially the "People's Republic of Xarslasja" (Arodjun Xaudixaum Xarslasjabwa) is a country located in a desert southwest of spawn. It was created by Agma Schwa. Yuɱa, Payson, Blythe, Quartzsite, Tempe, Flagstaff, Nogales, Ajo, Needle Rock, Sedona, Arcosanti, Nothing, Greer, Buckeye, Sun City West, San Tan Valley, Havasu Island, Tucson, Naco, Apache Junction, Clifton, Ashton, Tunnan, Puoria, Show Low, Xar Harbor, and Far Harbor are some of the cities and towns located in Xarslasja. The name is Arodjun in origin and roughly means "big desert area" or "Great Desert Land."

Xarslasja is a member of the United Ŋations, the Thasusan Union, and the South Thasusan Common Market Agreement.

History

Pre-History

Within Xarslasja's current borders, there are two settlements that generated naturally: the sites of Yuma and Flagstaff. Sun City West is located just across the Verde River from a natural village now in Pua's control - once called the "Free City of Deming," and later renamed "Sun City."

During the early days of the world, the area that would become Xarslasja was largely left alone. In Wool Park, Yuma, you can see one protected piece of white wool, which represents perhaps the only evidence of a player interacting with the landscape before Agma Schwa arrived.

Near the current site of Nothing, an old base, attributed to Gweng, existed on top of a butte. It was apparently taken apart well before The Raid, according to Gweng.

Some areas in Coconino County seem suspiciously flat, as if the spaces were leveled manually. This has not been proven, though there are some caves nearby that had torches in them by the time Agma Schwa explored the area.

In Mohave County, the famous sites of the "Burnt House" and the "Dwarven Mines" can be found in Ashton.

Additionally, the foundations for a base attributed to "Tach3on" can be found in western Santa Cruz County. It is unknown who Tach3on was, but, nevertheless, the site has been protected.

Pre-UNg Period

After The Raid led to the destruction of Phoeŋix, Nguhtropolis, and much of the infrastructure of the Old Kingdom, the prior political order of the server had been reduced to nothing. In the months following November 2023, several new villages began to emerge closer to the Spawn.

Agma Schwa continued living in the ruins of the Old Kingdom’s Five-Village Network until January of 2024, when he decided to migrate to a desert south of the Spawn. This desert hosted a seemingly-uncontacted village, which was named “Yuɱa,” after the city in the real-world state of Arizona.

Around January 4th, 2024, Agma Schwa assumed the role of Agamashuya I as the Bezuv of the "Bezuvate of Xarslasja."

In late January, a Cenrail extension was built to Yuɱa.

In February, construction began on the town of Blythe on the other side of the Colorado River, centered around the old Port Authority of Yuɱa. With multiple towns under construction, the region was dubbed “Xarslasja” (Arodjun for “Great Desert Land”) and the land declared intent on joining the United ŋations.

In March, construction began on the cities of Tempe, Quartzsite, and Payson. These cities and town make up "Core Xarslasja" or "Mainland Xarslasja," though technically Blythe is on the west side of the Colorado River.

In late March 2024, the Great Desert Bank opened, allowing for Xarslasja to make transactions in Slabs for the first time.

On April 1st, 2024, the Yuɱa Post Office was remodeled to follow the standards of Annwan's Mail Route. The Xarslasja Port Authority was also re-opened with the construction of the Port Authority Tower in Blythe.

Early Bezuvate (2024)

On April 2nd, 2024, Xarslasja was admitted into the United Ŋations by a unanimous 6-0 vote.

From there, dozens of towns were built and the borders of the nation gradually expanded, especially with the dissolutions of countries like Pais Transanguino Ranitino and Murbetia.

As the country grew larger and larger, the power of the Xarslasja Port Authority under Gu Sabah increased and the disagreements of the Xarslasja Legislature grew deeper and more fundamental.

Eventually, Gu Sabah began assuming political power outside of his role as Dmacixuv, taking over La Paz County outright and claiming dominion over much of Gila County, including the Shea Island Naval Complex that he used as his headquarters. This culminated in the Coup Sabah in October 2024, during which Gu Sabah besieged the palace of his father, the Bezuv Agamashuya I. After a series of armed conflicts culminating in the Battle of Flagstaff, Gu Sabah's movement became the Gu Sabah Insurgency, a separatist group that lasted until May of 2025.

After this conflict, Coconino County went into direct military rule and the Xarslasja Port Authority was abolished. The nation gradually returned to peace and the cities and infrastructure expanded.

Late Bezuvate (2025-26)

Throughout 2025, the nation focused heavily on infrastructure, both locally and internationally. The original transit systems of the nation were, as many called them, "scuffed." The Bezuv initiated government projects such as Operation: Mingling, the Xarslasja Transit Revolution, and Operation: Usable Transit. The Bezuvate also led the charge on the first wave of the Thasusa By Land Initiative, a continent-spanning road network to make land travel safe and convenient for long distances across countries.

In May 2025, Gu Sabah was finally defeated during the Battle of Tucson. The city was destroyed and Gu Sabah was put in a publicly visible cell at Central Yard in Yuma. The Gu Sabah KILLFEST then took place, where tourists could kill Gu Sabah repeatedly to collect souvenir heads. Finally, he was hanged in a gallows in Oracle.

In the fall of 2025, Xarslasja grew again. The nation of Þunan Qumreá declined and finally collapsed into a period of Warlords and chaos. New nations formed in its midst, and finally Xarslasja was granted the remaining territory, notably including the culturally significant city of Ashton. This became the Tunnan Military District. The nations of the Thasusan Continent also came together during the fall of 2025 under the banner of the Thasusan Union, with its headquarters at Þunan Ŋáce. This growth in territory led to the next political conflict in Xarslasja that eventually led to the government's collapse: the Census Rush.

The Counties of Xarslasja demanded reapportionment of the Legislature to reflect the changes in population in various parts of the country, and the prospect of creating two new counties (Mohave County and Cochise County) from the Tunnan District made many smaller counties afraid that they'd further lose power in the government. Citizens of these smaller counties created "filibusters," notably the Gila County Filibuster, the Pima County Filibuster and the Yavapai County Filibuster that developed the towns of Ashton, Tunnan, and Show Low respectively.

In December, the Jolly Blackout and Hacking Plague occurred. The entire population of Arcosanti was wiped out, including the Bezuv Agamashuya I, though news of the Beuv's death was kept hidden for nearly three months.

In January 2026, the reapportionment occurred and the new coutnies were created. Noting the Bezuv's absence, many counties began working on unauthorized construction projects and other political missions, ignoring federal authority. In response to this, House Speaker Jodai Wemmi took steps to give her position more power during periods of absence of the Bezuv. Notably, the "Absentia Statute" gave her the tie-breaking vote and the ability to act as executive on construction projects with no Bezuv present. This gradually led to further chaos until the Legislature was unable to handle the crisis brewing in Santa Cruz County.

In early 2026, the United Ŋations released two world maps that showed conflicting boundaries between Xarslasja and Pua at Santa Cruz County. As an unauthorized construction project, residents of Nogales made encampments and fences at Hayden's Ferry, a cove widely considered the Xarslasja-Pua border, and many even expanded beyond it to pedantically follow the exact boundary marker of one of the two maps. Pua began responding to this apparent aggression and fed into the country's nationalistic Greater Pua Movement. In March, they took Florence Island and Shea Island to help Xarslasja "quell their rebellion." The dysfunctional Legislature was unable to contain Santa Cruz County or declare war on Pua, and Wemmi asserted that Pua was a friend, not a foe.

By April, Jodai Wemmi was removed from the Legislature and exiled from the country, and Akuv Ngu (slave to creativity) became the highest ranking official. This brief period under his control became known as the "Akuvate of Xarslasja." He arrested most of the Legislature and sent them to the newly built Schwa-shank Military Prison in Eager, besieged the Puan island of Puoria, and began negotiations for land swaps with Pua. On May 4th, he embarked on a "goodwill" tour of the military occupied Coconino County. While giving a speech at the Flagstaff Ghastport, protesters broke the military barricade and trampled Ngu to death. Further rebellion and chaos spread in Xarslasja, and now there again was no head of government. Dmacixuv Sjarm Adax ended up de facto head of government, and immediately continued working on the peace deal with Pua.

Pua's 51-Minute Annexation and Xaudixaum Xarslasjabwa

Sjarm Adax immediately entered negotiations with Pua, continuing the process Ngu had begun. On the evening of May 6th, General Secretary Peaches Ariki-Rino of Pua agreed to the Ngu-Adax Peace Plan, and agreed to help Xarslasja get itself back on its feet, albeit with express Pro-Pua support henceforth. Adax conceded the island of Bar Harbor and the entire eastern half of Santa Cruz County (including the eastern half of Nogales) to Pua. In turn, Pua gave the lighthouse island of Puoria back to Xarslasja, and a massive chunk of mountainous land at the former Xarslasja-Nāroňpār-Pua tripoint frontier, formerly the northern reaches of the Whenua-Kāo-Ua Oblast.

In order to seal the deal and allow for the reestablishment of an unquestionably new, legitimate government (that favors Pua), Peaches and Adax collaborated in the dissolution of the "Bezuvate of Xarslasja" and its "annexation" by Pua from 6:36PM to 7:27PM (a total of 51 minutes), before Peaches made a public statement announcing that it was an "outrageous declaration from the Dmacixuv Sjarm Adax" that Pua would ever engage in such expansionism, and that Xarslasja now was the "People's Republic of Xarslasja," or in Arodjun, Xaudixaum Xarslasjabwa, with Sjarm Adax as the head of state and government with the newly-established title of "Xaudixuv", roughly translating to "Leader of the Nation."

Another 30-ish minutes later, Sjarm Adax gave himself the regnal title Agamashuya II and abolished the Xarslasja Legislature. Plans were set in motion to replace it with a "Council of Constituent Counties (CCC)," and a "declaration of eternal friendship" with Pua was made official, as well. Henceforth, Puan citizens would have the same rights as Xarslasjunnou.

Following this evening of chaos, the international reaction was wild. Multiple nations had been participating in the conflict at the defense of the old Bezuvate government. Most of them quickly put out official statements that, while they disapproved of the outcome, they would lower their arms and depart their troops from the region. Many were confused by the situation of the tenuous condominium of Surprise.

Ecology

The most densely populated region of Xarslasja is known as "Core Xarslasja," located in a desert biome on the southeast coast of the Agmatic Ocean.

North of Core Xarslasja are rolling savannas and forests that reach the northern border of the nation. There is also the notable Painted Desert, home to the (future) town of Sedona and the ruins of a former base destroyed during The Raid, now known as Nothing. At the extreme northwest, in the Agmatic Ocean, there are several grassy islands that make up the area known as the Carefree Isles.

To the south is the Djobom Sea, which features a few major islands within Xarslasja territory, including Why Island and Ajo.

The southern and western landmasses which contain the towns of Nogales and Flagstaff respectively are mostly savannas and plains full of acacias. The land surrounding Flagstaff in particular is home to many species of animals not found elsewhere in Xarslasja territory. A small swamp can be found right along the edge of Flagstaff.

To the north, Xarslasja shares a border with Patra, Moshas, Nāroňpār, the Thasusan Union's Zone of Thunan Ngace, and a sea border with Maraśa's exclave. The northernmost regions of Xarslasja are forests, jungles, and jungle hills annexed from Þunan Qumreá. These areas are not desert at all (save for a small stretch of sand near Faupinudmair), and are jokingly referred to as Xukidmausja "The Great Forest Land."

Ecological Crises

The desert (Xu Arslau) from which Xarslasja gets its name is at risk of disappearing due to the encroachment of the Yuma-Tempe metro area along with the Bezuv's Greenification program. While the Xarslasjan cactus population is still sufficient in the Painted Desert's Red Desert biome, there are fewer and fewer natively grown cacti in the normal sand as sand spaces continue to shrink.

In January 2025, the Xarslasja Deadshrub and the Xarslasja Cactus were declared Protected Species.

Culture

Core Xarslasja is located in a desert biome surrounded by bodies of water. One of the notable features of the region are the manually-planted oak and acacia trees placed across the desert and the grass planted across the riverbed of the Colorado River.

Yuɱa, Tempe, Quartzsite, Payson, Needle Rock, and Blythe are populated with villagers, and the infrastructure of these cities is designed to accomodate their needs above all.

Yuɱa has a complete street address system, wherein every street has a name (in Arodjun) and every building has an address based on the cardinal direction and proximity of the building relative to the central square.

In regions surrounding Xarslasja, especially along coastlines, small monuments of stone can be found pointing towards Yuɱa for navigational purposes.

The most common building material used in Xarslasja is sandstone, with most works of architecture containing terracotta, copper blocks, and birch wood. Most windows are made of glass blocks instead of panes, for improved insulation from the desert heat.

Religion

The religion of Xarslasja is a blend of Ætérnalism with the traditional Fwonnel practices of Bez. This synchronism merges the belief that Ætérnal is a divine being worth revering and fearing and that the goal of a civilization should be to achieve and maintain a state of "Bez," which can be thought of as "balance," or, more specifically, "sustainable terraforming."

An Ætérnal Shrine can be found atop South Mountain, just south of Yuɱa.

Entertainment and Media

Xarslasjan citizens often engage in hiking, cross-country horseriding, swimming, and Spleef.

Arslaum Radio is a popular news and entertainment radio station and written publication. While no state-owned and prone to spreading tabloid gossip, the publication is generally supportive of the decisions of the Bezuv.

Since May 2026, Xarslasja is a communistic military dictatorship, euphemistically called Xaudixaum (literally "the nation/the culture"). It is led by the Xaudixuv, Agamashuya II. In English, the phrase "People's Republic of Xarslasja" is used. The Republic aspect, in this sense, refers to what the Xaudixuv calls the Council of Constituent Counties (CCC). Counties each have their own "advisory boards" that inform decisions specific to the needs of their territories.

From January 2024 to May 2026, Xarslasja was a Bezuvate, a military-civil union run by Bezuv Agma Schwa, the Lord Terraformer of the Desert (Bezuv Xarslasjabwa, lit. "Ruler of Balance of the Desert Region").

Each populated center in Xarslasja is led by Unubuv (lit. "city rulers, mayors").

Foundations

The government of Xarslasja has a habit of establishing Embassies in independent villages to establish good relations and provide the Xarslasjunkou with places to stay during travel abroad. The first four Embassies were established during the Western Cherry Expedition of March 23-25, 2024.

Upon joining the United Ŋations, the borders of Xarslasja were expanded, nearly tripling its land area, to include several islands throughout the Djobom Sea and the entirety of the landmass the desert is situated on and meeting borders with Þunan Qumreá at the former territory of the Pais Transanguino Ranitino.

In June, the landmass to the southwest of Core Xarslasja containing Flagstaff (the first unclaimed village given a Xarslasja Embassy during the Western Cherry Expedition) was officially incorporated into the Bezuvate. This was followed in July by several large annexations to the southeast.

The Territory of Ŋibraltar is a joint-administrated district located on the southernmost tip of Anthem Island in the Carefree Isles. It is mostly managed by the Kingdom of Kyaw Cen, but is controlled equally by both nations.

Counties

In August 2024, the eleven Counties of Xarslasja were officially marked on a map. These counties have set amounts of representatives in the Xarslasja Legislature.

After annexing territory from the disbanded Þunan Qumreá, the Tunnan Military District was created. From this land, two new proposed counties were slated for establishment at the beginning of 2026: Mohave County and Cochise County.

Economy

The Economy of Xarslasja has two major focuses: Raw Materials and Transit. Being located in a desert, supplies like sand and sandstone are often bartered or sold. The location of Xarslasja as the "gateway to the southern hemisphere" has also made it an important stopping point for travellers by foot, rail, or boat. The Core Xarslasja Line System, with its main Terminus at the Yuɱa Line Station at 302 Ameu Kazlikk, provides rapid cart transit between the cities of Xarslasja, the Yuɱa CenRail Station, and the North Border.

Goods and services are exchanged for raw materials or for Slabs (POS) at the Great Desert Bank at the standards set by the Slab Exchange. Notably, as part of the "Greenification Project," one stack of Grass Blocks can be exchanged for one Slablet.

The Postal System of Xarslasja has been a role model for several months (in that it was one of the first since The Raid), and the revamp of April 2024 has made it comply with Annwan's Mail Route. The Yuɱa Post Office is located at 107 X. Dunxaum Juma, just north of the Yuɱa Warp, making for quick shipping by land, rail, or teleportation. The Blythe Shipping Center at the Xarslasja Port Authority Tower, managed by a villager known as "The Griddy," also had mailboxes for those who collected and sent mail via boat. The Port Authority Tower was destroyed by a terrorist during the Coup Sabah, and a new building was constructed on the east side of the river.

Bezuv Agma Schwa has ensured that every type of Villager Specialization is available somewhere in Xarslasja, making exploration of the various towns in the region helpful for many travellers looking to improve their craft.

In September 2024, Xarslasja adopted the Puan Unity Argent as an official currency in addition to the Slab.

Transit

Due to the rapid and grand expansion of Xarslasjan civilization in a short amount of time, the transit systems of Xarslasja have been described in many ways, ranging from "quirky" to "garbage." Nevertheless, transit is key to the functioning of Xarslasja's economy.

Rail

Xarslasja is served by Cenrail at Yuɱa Station, Ngibraltar Station, Flagstaff Station, Sedona Station, and Ash Fork Station. These serve as the primary rapid rail transit to the rest of the world.

Within Xarslasja, there are three major internal, one-lane rail lines: the Core Xarslasja Line, the Nogales-Arcosanti Line, and the Acacialands Line.

The Core Line has a nexus in Yuɱa which branches in four directions to Tempe, Payson, Yuɱa Station, and Blythe. It is currently being revamped significantly.

The Nogales-Arcosanti Line begins in Payson and ends in Blythe, with stations in Ajo, Nogales, Flagstaff, and Arcosanti.

The Acacialands Line connects Sedona to Sun City West.

Boat Transit

Boat travel is also quite easy throughout Xarslasja, as most settlements are located next to major bodies of water with docks built in. International travel is quite easy along the Salt River and Blue River.

Roads

Operation: Mingling set up a network of roads and bridges webbing every side of the country. This was done to make transit and navigation possible across the vast swaths of land that were recently annexed.

In November 2024, the Bezuv made an international decree to the nations of the continent of Thasusa to improve land routes, called the "Thasusa By Land Initiative." The program began to pick up steam in January 2025, and Xarslasja won the contract to construct roads in Pua after its Repunification. By July 2025, Thasusa By Land had taken the continent by the storm, with roads being constructed or integrated all over the northern part of the continent.

In September 2025, after much popular demand, the Bezuv decided to begin the process of converting Xarslasja Local Rails from one-lane lines to two-lane lines, beginning with a complete dismantling and revamp of the Yuma Nexus Station. Upon completion, it will be connected to the Yuma CenRail Station and be much more user-friendly.

Ghastports

In November 2025, Xarslasja's first Ghastport was completed - the Yuma Ghastport 4-Port Hub at 201 Djaxeu Zlom, at the northernmost point of the city.

Soon later, to finish off the supply of Adnarian copper purchased for the Copper Festival, 4 more ghastports were built in Flagstaff, San Tan Valley, Anthem, and Ashton. The ghastport in Ashton, Muwewesja Ghastport, is the largest, with 6 ghast bays. Another was built in Far Harbor after the proclamation of the new nation of Polnareff Land.

International Relations

Xarslasja has a large network of interngational relations. A member of the United Ŋations, Xarslasja occasionally provides input on international issues, while remaining mostly focused on the economic value of the Petrified Oak Slab and on the transit systems of Thasusa. The government of Xarslasja is largely friendly toward most nations, the only exceptions being those who supported the Gu Sabah Insurgency, such as Tauranga Puawai and the Realm of Madness, though even these relations have largely warmed up since the execution of Gu Sabah.

The city of Tempe is the host to a large and growing array of embassies with other nations. The northern portion of the city, especially along Xidmex Bauxawa and Sljaudmeu Sjedonna is known as “Embassy Row,” though county and National Forest boundaries forced a new block of embassies to be constructed on the south side of the city. Only one embassy is currently located outside of Tempe, that being Xarslasja’s first international embassy: the embassy to the Kingdom of Kyaw Cen. This first embassy was constructed in Yuɱa just after the completion of the Yuma Cenrail station, before Tempe had even been built.

Demographics

The cities and towns of Xarslasja are populated primarily with villagers and Golems, though the towns in former Þunan Qumreá territory have a small population of Allays. The most popular language, by far, is Arodjun, though there are multiple languages spoken by some that are being considered for legal minority status.

As of the October-November 2025 Xarslasja Census, the largest city, by far, is Yuma. The most populous cities by villager count are:

Language

Arodjun and English are co-official languages in Xarslasja. Most signage and official documentation is written in either of these two languages. Due to proximity with Pua and the annexation of Þunan Qumreá territories, there are now multiple minority languages, including German, Maori, Toki Pua, Śácamþaśá, Saxish, and Kyawcenni.
